Job Title: Mixing Technician
Department: Hy-Vee Beverage Mfg.
FLSA: Non-Exempt
General Function: We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Mixing Technician to join our production team. This role is responsible for accurately batching and mixing ingredients for all beverage products according to established formulations and quality standards. The ideal candidate will ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance with safety and food quality regulations while supporting overall production operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Batching and Mixing:
• Accurately measure and mix ingredients based on specified formulations and production schedules and batch sheets.
• Operate and monitor mixing equipment to ensure proper blending of raw materials.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain product consistency and quality.
• Perform in-process checks to verify ingredient accuracy, consistency, and adherence to specifications.
• Document batch records and ensure traceability of all ingredients used in production.
• Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to address any deviations or non-conformances.
• Set up, operate, and clean mixing machinery following sanitation protocols.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the maintenance team.
• Assist production teams by preparing mixes in a timely manner to meet production goals.
• Coordinate with leadership to ensure timely availability of ingredients.
• Support inventory control efforts by tracking ingredient usage and reporting shortages.
• Adhere to all company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and safety regulations.
• Properly handle and store raw materials in compliance with food safety guidelines.
• Participate in training programs related to safety, quality, and operational procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:

Ability to solve problems and identify misunderstandings while adapting to changes throughout daily operations.
Knowledge of current OSHA guidelines and other safety regulations.
Must have the ability to use logical or scientific thinking to solve problems and with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages and have basic computer skills.
Lean manufacturing experience is a plus.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience in managing others, preferably in a high-speed production environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct Reports):
Responsible for instruction, assigning work, reviewing work, planning work for others, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, and acting on employee problems. Manage department workload to manpower and resources to effectively balance department costs and overtime with Commissary needs and improvements. Recommend employee disciplinary action as appropriate.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to be on feet (standing and walking) for 8-12 hours a day.
Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions:
Fast paced work environment and will require some pressure to meet deadlines.
The duties of this position are performed mostly in the production area
Working directly with employees, technicians and vendors.
