Mission Test Systems Engineer III (Top Secret Clearance Required)

The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will create mission level test plans, determine what system level tests will be used for verification, coordinate all the test parameters, and ensure all mission and system level test events have pass/fail criteria and are well defined. To accomplish the testing, you will leverage mission CONOPs to coordinate End-to-End testing between Ground System, Space Vehicle, and Customer. As a result, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a wide array of professionals, including customers, team members, systems engineering, architecture, hardware, and software teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive mission test plans and procedures for space mission systems.
  • Work closely with system engineers, designers, and program managers to understand mission requirements and objectives.
  • Conduct system-level testing to verify and validate system performance, functionality, and reliability.
  • Analyze test data, identify anomalies, and provide detailed reports and recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware engineering teams to develop test automation strategies and tools.
  • Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts related to test systems and processes.
  • Continuously enhance testing methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering, Physics
  • 5+ years of proven experience in systems engineering principles and execution
  • Expertise in the following areas:
  • Proven experience in system engineering and testing within the aerospace industry or similar.
  • Strong understanding of space mission design and testing processes.
  • Proficiency in using test equipment and software relevant to the aerospace domain.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Enjoys a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Possess skills in strategic system thinking, excellent written and oral communication skills, proactive in moving the program forward through team collaborations to achieve timely decisions, ability to earn trust, and maintain positive and professional relationships
  • Knowledge of current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologies
  • Active Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with polygraph
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in a relevant technical field
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Spacecraft systems engineering experience
  • Knowledge of space mission operations and satellite systems.
  • Experience with automated test systems and tools.
  • Experience with verification of requirements and using Systems Engineering tools such as DOORs, ETM, Windchill and Cameo.


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $117,498.00-$164,497.20

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
