Technical Trainer – Millennium Space Systems

Millennium Space Systems (MSS), a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Technical Trainer to support our team in El Segundo, CA!

Job Summary
The Technical Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering technical training that supports manufacturing teams, quality inspectors, and other personnel working on high-reliability space hardware. Training will include a mix of classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and online courses delivered through the company’s Learning Management System (LMS). Working as part of the Quality & EHS Team, the trainer will collaborate with process owners and stakeholders to identify gaps in skills and procedures, then design practical solutions to close them. In addition to formal training, this role provides on-the-job coaching and supports day-to-day knowledge transfer to strengthen compliance with industry standards and improve overall team performance. The trainer will also seek to measure and continually enhance training effectiveness by leveraging modern learning tools, digital content, and innovative methods to better engage and develop the workforce.

This position requires the ability to work any shift as needed.

This position's internal job code is Employee Development Spec. Our team is currently hiring for a level 3.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver technical curriculum for a variety of manufacturing and inspection processes

  • Design and maintain curriculum aligned to industry standards (e.g., J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA standards)

  • Deliver instructor-led training through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice

  • Partner with process owners and stakeholders to conduct training needs assessments and close skill gaps

  • Manage course scheduling and maintain training records in MSS Learning Management System (LMS) ensuring accuracy and compliance

  • Develop and implement methods to validate training effectiveness (knowledge checks, skills demonstrations, proficiency assessments) and apply results to improve programs

  • Continuously evaluate workforce training needs and provide targeted informal/on-the-job training to strengthen skills and prevent recurring nonconformances

  • Support special projects for Quality and EHS, such as facility ESD testing or compliance initiatives

  • Enhance training effectiveness by leveraging LMS capabilities and next-generation tools (e.g., multimedia content, digital modeling, automation)

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. 

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 3+ years of experience developing and delivering technical training in aerospace, space, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments

  • Experience with learning platforms (e.g., LMS365, Workday Learning) and familiarity with instructional design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE)

  • Working knowledge and/or certification in IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or relevant NASA standards

  • Hands-on experience with high-reliability assembly techniques (e.g., soldering, harness fabrication, epoxy, torque tools, GD&T, microscope use)

  • Experience working in cleanroom environments with compliance to ESD, FOD, and contamination controls

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear training content

  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams, build relationships, and adapt in a fast-paced environment

  • Willingness to work across shifts (first, second, or split) as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating engaging training content using digital methods (e.g., video-based training, simulations, e-learning modules)

  • Experience developing technical illustrations, 3D models, or digital manuals to support training

  • Familiarity with emerging learning technologies (e.g., AR/VR, AI-enabled platforms) and interest in exploring their application

  • Awareness of emerging training technologies (e.g., AR/VR, AI-enabled platforms) and interest in exploring their potential application in aerospace manufacturing

  • Background in blended learning design (mixing instructor-led, virtual, and on-the-job training)

  • Experience developing train-the-trainer programs or mentoring other instructors

  • Knowledge of human performance improvement (HPI) methods and using training metrics to drive continuous improvement

  • Active or ability to obtain security clearance.

  • Level 3: $81,600 - $120,000
