About the role

As the Ministry Co‑ordinator for Youth, Children and Family, you will help bring ministry to life across the Corps and the wider community. You will create environments where children and young people can grow, explore faith and build relationships that strengthen them. You will walk alongside families and offer support, encouragement and connection through programs, pastoral care and community engagement.

Your week will include planning and preparation, school engagement, after school and evening youth programs, and active participation in Sunday morning worship. Hours are worked across four days each week including Sunday. Remaining hours can be shaped around program needs and there is flexibility in how they are distributed.

You will also play a key role in building and supporting a team of volunteers and ensuring they feel equipped, valued and confident in their ministry.

This permanent part-time 0.6 position is within the Southwest Metro Salvos at Mandurah Corps and reports to the Corps Officers. Pay is in accordance with a Hay Level 12.

How you will make an impact

• Create programs and spaces that help children and youth feel connected, valued and encouraged in their spiritual journey
• Provide pastoral care to young people and families including support through COACH and Positive Lifestyle Programs
• Build relationships through school engagement and community-based ministry
• Facilitate after school and evening youth programs including sessions such as 4pm to 8pm
• Plan and prepare ministry content that is relevant, engaging and age appropriate
• Recruit, train and support volunteers and emerging leaders
• Maintain accurate records including attendance, Safeguarding, SAMIS and other reporting requirements
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture
• Participate in Sunday morning worship as part of the congregation and facilitate children’s and youth activities in that space
• Ensure safe ministry practices and uphold TSA safeguarding and WHS requirements

What you will bring

• A heart for ministry and a passion for seeing young people and families thrive
• Experience in youth, children or family related ministry or community work
• Evidence of a mature, or growing, Christian faith including a reference from your church or ministry leader
• A commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army
• The ability to build trust, nurture relationships and lead with humility and care
• Knowledge of child and youth development principles
• A collaborative spirit and a desire to contribute to a healthy team environment
• A commitment to creating culturally safe, inclusive and welcoming spaces
• A WA Driver’s Licence
• Formal ministry qualifications are desirable
