About the role
As a Ministry Assistant - Family Engagement, this is your opportunity to oversee and coordinate community and Corps-based ministry activities, with a focus on children, youth, and their families, while also engaging with the corps community to maintain current activities and facilitate new opportunities within the Merri-bek Corps and local community.
Reporting to the Corps Officer – Team Leader, this is a permanent full-time role, located in Coburg, VIC.
This role is identified as requiring a committed Christian, in accordance with Section 351(2)(c) of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), as it is necessary for the role to conform to the doctrines, beliefs, and principles of The Salvation Army.
How you will make an impact
Develop, implement and oversee children, youth and family ministry activities aligned with mission intentions and Corps goals including outreach through schools, Salvo Stores and Social Mission collaboration
Provide pastoral care, discipleship and support for children, youth, families and community members including referrals to internal programs and support for visits, groups and events as required
Recruit, train and engage volunteers and ensure all administration, compliance, records and onboarding processes are accurate and aligned with TSA policies and procedures
Foster collaborative relationships with Corps ministry teams and community partners while communicating activities through newsletters, website, social media and other promotional channels
Manage budgets, reporting, team participation and WHS responsibilities including identifying and managing risks and undertaking other duties as directed by Corps Officer/s
What you will bring
A commitment to the Christian faith and mission of The Salvation Army.
An ability to offer pastoral assistance, to offer prayer and to explain the Christian Gospel
Training in Family, Youth or Children’s related ministries or evidence of relevant experience
Completion of studies in community services and/or, ministry related study in biblical studies, youth or children’s work and/or related fields is desirable
Experience within a community setting would be well regarded
A solid understanding of TSA Doctrines & Principles is desirable
Capacity to facilitate groups and one to one with a particular focus e.g. faith-based groups
A current VIC Drivers Licence and employee Working with Children’s Check
