Major Duties:

  • INTRODUCTION: This position is located under the Education and Career Services Section, Personal and Professional Development Branch, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Division, Marine Corps Base, Iwakuni, Japan. The purpose of this position is to assist in administering and maintaining Military Classification testing programs for Marine Corps personnel stationed at Iwakuni, as well as Education Technician duties and responsibilities. SUMMARY OF DUTIES: As the Military Classification Testing Officer, independently manages and administers the complete range of Military Classification Testing. Ensure that all tests are administered in strict accordance with current Marine Corps orders and directives and that prescribed testing standards are met. Conducts pre/post-test counseling of personnel. Ensures compliance with all policies and directives as well as inspection requirements. Administers the Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT), Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB), Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT), Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI), etc. Responsible for the security and accountability of testing materials held by Marine Corps Base, Iwakuni. Conducts inventories of testing materials and submits written and electronic reports of these inventories to the higher echelons of command as required. Prepares test reports and maintains comprehensive and complete files of test records and correspondence. Prepares, logs, and forwards completed testing documentation and follows-up on results. Assists with preparing monthly and weekly testing schedules and correspondence. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must have a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college recognized by the U.S. Department of Education OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR three years of practical experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above in understanding basic education principles and processes. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must have the ability to comprehend and follow specific testing policies and directions and follow through without error. 2. Knowledge of DoD and Marine Corps policies and regulations as they pertain to the operation of Marine Corps Education and Testing Centers. 3. Must be familiar with general principles of administering standardized tests. 4. Must have the ability to independently manage a high volume testing office, make independent decisions and understand and follow through when the chain of command is required to be notified and involved. 5. Must have the ability to keep information confidential, maintain professionalism, and maintain excellent written and oral communication skills. 6. Working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. 7. Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as mission requires. 8. Must agree to provide emergency contact information in all absences in case of a testing emergency. This activity is a drug-free workplace.
