MECCA

Mid Platform Engineer

Victoria Full time

MECCA’s digital and technology landscape continues to evolve at pace and our Cloud & Platform team is at the heart of enabling that growth. We’re looking for a hands-on Mid Platform Engineer to join us on a 12 month contract to help bring our Platform Engineering strategy to life.

This role is instrumental in building MECCA’s internal developer platform - accelerating engineering velocity, reducing cognitive load for product teams and embedding security and operational excellence across our technology estate.

With strong foundations already in place, this is an opportunity to shape the next phase of our platform evolution and help define how engineering is practised at MECCA.

The Role You Could Play:

Reporting to the Cloud & Platform Technical Director on a 12 month FTC, you will contribute to the delivery of our Platform Engineering roadmap. You will:

  • Build and maintain reusable Infrastructure as Code modules (Terraform/OpenTofu) to support secure, multi-environment AWS deployments

  • Maintain and enhance standardised CI/CD pipelines, embedding modern deployment strategies and automated controls

  • Contribute to our self-service “Golden Path” platform, enabling developers to provision compliant infrastructure with ease

  • Embed DevSecOps practices by integrating security tooling and guardrails into the delivery lifecycle

  • Strengthen observability and reliability by tuning monitoring stacks and supporting SLO-driven operations

What You Will Bring:

You are a proactive Platform, DevOps, or SRE engineer who brings a developer-first mindset and enjoys building scalable, secure foundations. Ideally, you will bring:

  • 3+ years’ experience in DevOps, SRE or Platform Engineering roles with strong AWS capability

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or OpenTofu)

  • Experience designing or maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI)

  • Understanding of cloud networking, containerised environments, and modern deployment patterns

  • A platform-as-a-product mindset, with a focus on security, automation, and reducing developer friction

Experience with observability tooling, DevSecOps practices, or AWS certifications (e.g. Solutions Architect Associate, SysOps Administrator Associate) will be highly regarded.

A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, though demonstrated hands-on experience is equally valued.
