Join an exciting and growing team in performing complex analysis of aviation data. As modern aircraft produce increasing amounts of data in operations and maintenance, analytics are used to turn that data into insights to improve performance, enable smarter services, increase productivity, and make flying safer. The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Engineering Data Scientist to join the Boeing Global Services (BGS) Government Services Analytics team located in Oklahoma City, OK, Hazelwood, MO, or Plano, TX. In this position you will work with an industry-leading team of data scientists and collaborate with engineering teams to create innovative health management solutions for the KC-46 platform.

In this position, you will play a crucial role in creating new analytics models that provide aftermarket services for our KC-46 customers. Your primary responsibilities will be interacting with customers to formulate their needs into specific requirements, building robust data processing frameworks to support solutions, and developing predictive algorithms for aircraft health management will be a key part of the job. Experience navigating data integration in a secure environment is important to success. We are looking for someone who has the analytics, collaboration, and project management skills to help shape the digital tools future for the KC-46 platform.

The successful candidate will have a strong data engineering and data science background, with proven experience implementing a wide variety of data infrastructures, along with experience in data science techniques and approaches in cloud environments. Robust knowledge of data formats, architectures, and security are all foundational to the position. Prior aviation and engineering knowledge are both helpful as well. Excellent communication and teamwork ability are critical for success.

This position is onsite. The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and apply advanced statistical techniques and predictive modeling to develop predictive maintenance strategies and optimize aircraft performance.

  • Collaborate with customers teams to identify and define analytics requirements.

  • Implement necessary data preparation steps and deploy machine learning models into production systems.

  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to solve fleet issues.

  • Partner with commercial Airplane Health Management (AHM) analytics teams to adapt tools for military uses

  • Support in-service data investigations, queries, and data requests.

  • Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations throughout the data analysis lifecycle.

  • Communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear and concise reports, presentations, and visualizations.

  • Provide input into internal research projects and strategy.

This position requires the ability to obtain a SECRET US Security Clearance Post-Start for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 5+ years of professional experience in data science

  • 2+ years of experience in Python for data science applications

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or another similar technical background

  • 2+ years of experience in SQL

  • Experience with KC-46 or 767 systems and architecture

  • Experience working in Linux operating system

  • Advanced understanding of military aircraft systems

  • Understanding of software engineering development processes and tools, from inception to production

  • Engineering domain knowledge relating to aircraft maintenance, design, or testing

  • Experience working in an agile software development team

Summary pay range: $119,000 - $186,300
