Microsoft 365 Engineer

Department: IT Engineering | Reports To: Engineering Manager | Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and self-motivated Microsoft 365 Engineer to join our growing IT team. This role is critical in supporting and expanding our cloud-based productivity and infrastructure stack. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, can manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision, and brings a passion for automation and continuous improvement. You will work alongside a collaborative team of engineers and report directly to the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize the Microsoft 365 environment including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Office Suite.
  • Manage and support email security tools including Mimecast and CodeTwo.
  • Support and administer XMedius and other document/fax delivery platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Unified Communications Engineer on overlapping Microsoft toolsets.
  • Assist with endpoint management and Microsoft Intune as needed.
  • Contribute to the buildout and ongoing management of an expanding Azure infrastructure stack.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation workflows to streamline operational tasks and reduce manual effort.
  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve technical documentation, runbooks, and SOPs.
  • Monitor system health, respond to escalations, and participate in root cause analysis.
  • Manage project tasks and deliverables independently, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Adapt quickly to new tools, technologies, and shifting organizational priorities.
  • Participate in planning and execution of technology migrations, upgrades, and new platform rollouts.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 in a corporate environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams administration.
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) and identity management.
  • Familiarity with email security platforms (Mimecast or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven track record of producing clear, thorough technical documentation.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation of M365 and Azure tasks.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services and Azure administration (AZ-104 certification a plus).
  • Experience with automation tools and workflow platforms (e.g., Power Automate, Azure Logic Apps).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Intune and endpoint management concepts.
  • Experience with Mimecast, CodeTwo, or XMedius.
  • Microsoft certifications such as MS-100, MS-102, or AZ-104.
  • Background supporting enterprise environments with 5,000+ users.

What We’re Looking For

Beyond technical skills, we’re looking for someone who is naturally curious and proactive — someone who doesn’t wait to be told there’s a problem but finds it first. You should be comfortable operating independently, comfortable with ambiguity, and ready to hit the ground running. As our Azure footprint grows, this role will grow with it, making this an exciting opportunity for someone looking to expand their cloud infrastructure expertise in a real-world, fast-moving environment.
