M/H Cycle Count Clerk

Mueller Company (Mueller Co.), the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, has an opening for a Cycle Counter position based in our Chattanooga, TN Plant Facility.

This is a position responsible for performing cycle counts and compiling and maintaining records of quantity, type, and value of material, equipment, merchandise, and/or supplies stocked in the establishment. Research root causes for count discrepancies.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure the integrity of the physical count of the in-house inventory via cycle counting and other duties assigned by Supervisor

  • Cycle counts the warehouse including all pick and reserve slots for discrepancies and product/packaging integrity issues.

  • Research causes of weight variances, receiving issues, and damaged products in the racks from warehouse moves.

  • Confirm inventory is properly recorded and verify the count of each pallet.

  • Verify the put-away and transfer process performed by the day and night personnel.

  • Invoice Shippers Daily

  • Confirm shipments and Maintain records for auditing at both facilities

  • Enter on excel total sheet for balancing                 

  • If duplicate shipment research and provide information to manager

  • Recall shipments back from carriers or pulled before leaving the dock

  • Ability to identify short shipments and raise awareness to manager

  • Look in TMS for freight charges on freight shipments

  • Communicate dollars shipped daily to manager

  • Dispute resolution - Communicate with customer service with providing tracking and documentation on shipments

  • Create bill of ladings, ensuring accuracy so shipments are invoiced every day      

  • Print Shippers and file accordingly

  • Generate Miscellaneous shipping Memos and documentation

  • File Debit Memos          

  • Update accounting spreadsheet daily and compare Hash Report

  • Document location of inventory when counted.

  • Review standard management reports and research causes of inventory shrink.

  • Must have exemplary listening skills to facilitate effective two- way communication.

  • Can add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Solid problem-solving skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

  • experience using of handheld scanner and inventory systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arm’s length, push, pull, stoop, kneel, and crouch

  • Ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds, and up to 100 pounds

  • Specific vision requirements include close vision and color vision

  • Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time

  • Ability to work around hot heavy machinery

  • Ability to work in an open warehouse environment, subject to seasonal weather (hot/cold)

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License

  • Must have good written and oral communication skills

  • 6-12 months experience preferred

  • Forklift experience

  • Familiarity with inventory and scales

  • Good communication skills

  • Follow oral and written instructions and prints

  • Multi task and self-motivated
