Mgr-Facilities Operations

Responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of critical building systems and infrastructure. This role ensures that all assigned facilities are safely operated and maintained in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory standards, including those set by DNV/JCAHO, FDA, USDA, and OSHA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the overall execution of facilities maintenance projects and operational implementation of one or more compound programs of varying complexity.

  • Assist in all departmental administrative and supervisory functions and assume full responsibility for departmental performance in the absence of Senior Manager.

  • Ensure safe and proper supervision, monitoring, operation and maintenance of assigned areas, including systems and equipment according to departmental policies and procedures.

  • Lead development and implementation of standards, policies and procedures for facilities maintenance.

  • Resolve problems, emergencies and other matters affecting assigned areas of responsibility, including associated systems and equipment.

  • Engage in hiring, performance management, and other people processes.

  • Plan ongoing training and skill-building programs for own team; Identify and address team strengths/ skill gaps through appropriate interventions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • High School diploma/GED required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.

  • Substantial training in the philosophy and application of Conduct of Operations.

Minimum Experience:

  • 5+ years technical management experience in a hospital, research institution, education environment or related environment required..

  • 2+ years of experience managing people as direct reports.

  • Experience leading projects/ processes end-to-end including resource planning and management, and communication and collaboration with internal cross-functional teams and external partners preferred.

  • Experience developing and implementing department-wide process improvement initiatives.

  • Basic proficiency in MS software and end-user proficiency in CMMS software.

  • Some experience presenting in team meetings and/or to senior management.

  • Proven performance in earlier role.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

  • Steam Engineer First Class License from Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement preferred.

  • Refrigeration Engineer First Class License from Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $94,640 - $169,520 per year for the role of Mgr-Facilities Operations.
