Job Description
The Manager, Enterprise Fraud Strategy will report directly to the Director, Enterprise Fraud Operations, supporting fraud risk management and analytical needs for multiple lines of businesses and payment channels within the bank. The LOBs include Consumer, Commercial and Institutional banking. The payment channels include Card (Debit and Credit), Check/Deposits, Digital Online Banking, Mobile, Wire, ACH & P2P.
- Responsible for managing a multi-channel data team and the associated systems and tools used for the creation of reports to be consumed by Lines of Business senior executives and analysis for managing fraud prevention strategies across all payment channels.
- Work in concert with the Enterprise Fraud Prevention and Enterprise Fraud Claims Managers to identify fraud trends and make necessary strategy adjustments to the applicable fraud prevention tools to detect and prevent fraudulent transactions.
- Responsible for end-to-end fraud strategy implementation which impacts the processes within the Loss Prevention teams. Provide guidance to Loss Prevention managers for any new processes (or changes to existing processes) to support the implementation of new fraud strategy/rules or tools.
- Responsible to continually evaluate the effectiveness of existing analytical tools.
- Appraise the latest technological solutions offered to the industry and their potential adaption to UMB. Validate fraud prevention systems by monitoring network performance and fraud prevention measures; developing and implementing tests and audits; monitoring and ensuring compliance to standards, policies, and procedures; conducting incident response analyses; developing and conducting training programs.
- Will work closely with the Enterprise Fraud Prevention and Claims Managers to produce appropriate data and reporting to fulfill overall business needs and expectations of the Director of Enterprise Fraud Operations and the banks senior executives.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements. Works closely with product partners to identify new product fraud risks and develop/implement appropriate controls and safeguards to effectively mitigate risk.
- Communicates regularly with peer banks and industry organizations to maintain awareness of industry risks and trends Must be familiar with principles of project management. Must stay current with UMBs fraud policies and procedures.
- Furnishes and delivers professional presentations at various forums and committees to multiple levels of leadership. Must be able to deliver to stringent timelines confidently. Other duties as assigned.
- Participate as needed in third party vendor assessments for existing fraud services being provided and new vendor opportunities.
- Actively engage if Enterprise fraud incidents occur to assist in determining root cause and partner with fraud operations to swiftly resolve issues and ultimately determine if program improvements are necessary.
This role is hybrid (Mon thru Thu on-site; Fri remote) for candidates in Kansas City area and open to qualified remote candidates outside of Kansas City area but within the US.
Knowledge & Skills
MINIMUM:
- Demonstrates proficiency in Fraud systems and solutions such as TSYS CardGuard, NICE/Actimize, FICO Falcon, Early Warning Services, LexisNexis, other fraud systems.
- Demonstrates proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other data analytics software.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Access).
- Demonstrates proficiency for problem solving, analytics, and reporting.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage third party relationships and is knowledgeable of regulatory requirements governing these relationships.
- Demonstrates ability to manage direct reports in successfully fulfilling business objectives.
- Demonstrates ability to manage time and meet deadlines – works under general supervision.
- Demonstrates ability to work proactively & collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrates strong written communication skills.
- Demonstrates ability to partner with multiple lines of business to achieve common goal.
PREFERRED:
- Experience with FICO platform, TSYS Determinator for fraud prevention.
- Experience with risk models; machine learning applications. l
- Experience with check-fraud solutions such as OASIS, Mitek Fraud Defender
- Experience in fraud risk model building and validation
- Experience creating Business Requirement Documents
Requirements
MINIMUM:
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics or equivalent field of study.
- 7 years banking experience.
- 4+ years direct experience with card, check, ACH and/or wire fraud strategy development and analysis.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience.
PREFERRED:
- Master’s degree in statistical analysis or equivalent.
- 10 years direct experience with card, check, ACH and/or wire fraud strategy development and analysis.

Compensation Range:
$69,230.00 - $149,000.00
