Mexico Tax Manager

As the Mexico Tax Manager, you will lead country‑specific tax operations and serve as a key advisor to the business, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations while supporting Micron’s global tax strategy. You will partner closely with local and global stakeholders to manage tax reporting, audits, planning initiatives, and process improvements across direct and indirect taxes.

Responsibilities

Regional / Country Responsibilities

  • Data gathering from SAP and other sources for preparation and submission of Mexico corporate income tax, indirect taxes (including ISR, IVA, and withholding taxes) and e-Accounting monthly and annual filings.
  • Preparation, submission of VAT refund requests and responding to Mexican tax authority’s (SAT) follow up queries.
  • Generation, retrieval and cancelation of invoices (CFDI) using SAT portal.
  • Assist with local operations team and Micron Customs group with monthly IMMEX compliance.
  • Manage local tax planning initiatives, including incentives, credits, and structural opportunities.
  • Assist quarterly and annual tax provisions, tax estimates, deferred tax, and reconciliations.
  • Lead tax audit defense and manage interactions with SAT.
  • Lead and execute country‑level and regional tax projects as required.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external advisors and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with business units to understand operations and act as a trusted advisor on tax matters.
  • Support Transfer Pricing compliance, including coordination of local documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate with local finance teams to ensure accurate financial data and drive process improvements.

Global Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Global Tax team to enhance processes, including standardization and automation initiatives.
  • Partner with Accounting, Payroll, Treasury, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Customs and other Global groups on tax‑related matters and cross‑functional projects.
  • Support regional tax audits.
  • Participate in and support global tax initiatives and special projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive tax experience, including experience in public accounting and commercial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexico tax laws, including corporate income tax, VAT, withholding taxes and navigating SAT tax portal.
  • General understanding of IMMEX Program requirements and restrictions.
  • Understanding of Mexican financial accounting standards.
  • Experience working with global tax and cross-functional teams, preferably within a US‑headquartered multinational.
  • Strong communication skills with proficiency in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, as required.
  • Highly detail‑oriented with strong analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, or local equivalent).
  • Experience with SAP and tax‑related systems.
  • Familiarity with US GAAP.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience operating in a global, matrixed organization.
