MES & Control Systems Engineer
A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love.
That’s what makes us Roche.
As a member of the MES & Control Systems group, you are a strategic partner in managing the high-tech backbone of our manufacturing operations. You are responsible for the functionality, performance, and audit readiness of critical manufacturing IT applications within a 24/7 Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment. You will work collaboratively with Process Automation and Quality teams to drive excellence in systems security, data integrity, and operational efficiency. By managing the full lifecycle of systems like Rockwell PharmaSuite and Emerson DeltaV, you push the boundaries to ensure safe and efficient production through smart, compliant digital innovation.
Your Opportunity
System Ownership & Compliance: You act as the System Owner for assigned manufacturing IT applications, ensuring they remain compliant and audit-ready at all times. You adhere to strict quality standards and SOPs while performing commissioning and qualification activities.
Lifecycle Management: You manage the full lifecycle of the MES system (specifically Rockwell PharmaSuite), encompassing design, development, integration, maintenance, and eventual retirement.
Strategic Roadmap Execution: You define and execute the MES system roadmap, ensuring local operations align with Roche’s global manufacturing strategy and corporate digital initiatives.
Process Excellence: You apply an in-depth understanding of biologics manufacturing to develop electronic recipes—including Bill of Materials (BOM) and Material Master (MM)—that enable the safe execution of production tasks.
Continuous Improvement: You collaborate across functions to identify and execute improvement projects. You foster a continuous improvement mindset by advocating for Roche’s Lean Production System (LPS) and encouraging experimentation.
24/7 Operational Support: You provide essential troubleshooting for system and network issues to ensure uninterrupted production. This includes supporting a variety of OT systems such as PI Historian and PLC-based systems.
Safety & Security Advocacy: You take full ownership of all Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) requirements, ensuring a risk-free workplace and strictly observing site security measures.
Who You Are
Educated Professional: You hold a B.S. or M.S. in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, or Computer), Computer Science, or Information Technology.
Experienced Practitioner: You have at least 3 years of experience in biologics manufacturing operations and 3–5 years of hands-on experience with commercial MES platforms. Knowledge of Rockwell PharmaSuite is strongly preferred.
Technical Expert: You are proficient in IT/OT integration and have working knowledge of LIMS, PI Data Historian, ERP, and Quality Management Systems like Veeva or ValGenesis.
GMP Specialist: You have a solid understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) as they relate to the operation, validation, and maintenance of computer-controlled systems.
Collaborative Communicator: You are a self-driven team member with excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of working effectively in a results-oriented environment.
Flexible & Proactive: You are open-minded to supporting diverse OT systems and are willing to provide 24/7 support when necessary to maintain production excellence.
