A Day in the Life:
The Merchandiser knows the business from end to end and represents the company by building and maintaining strong relationships. They bridge the gap to connect farmers and customers helps keep us front and center on the global agriculture stage. From global commodity marketing to procurement strategies to contract management, your goal is the efficient and effective movement of agriculture commodities.
What You’ll Be Doing:
In conjunction with the management team, executes procurement strategies based on the commodity business plan and position including establishing street and deferred delivery contract prices.
Partners with logistics providers to establish efficient and effective movement of product.
Approves pricing premiums and discounts within provided guidelines.
With clear guidance, may conduct negotiation of commodity pricing and volume.
Executes against contract terms and conditions.
Monitors and analyzes commodity position statements. Reviews progress against targets and initiates action as required.
Performs other duties as required.
Skills & Experience Requirements:
Minimum one (1) year experience.
Post-secondary Degree in Agriculture or Commerce / Business Administration.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external contacts.
Effective negotiation skills.
Proven judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Proven persuasion and diplomacy skills.
Computer competent, with ability in the use of communications, spreadsheet and word processing applications within a Windows based operating environment.
