Job Description

We are seeking a new member for our Responsible Investment Advisory Council (RIAC), based in the Netherlands or with knowledge of the Dutch RI market. The RIAC is an advisory body whose primary purpose is to review and advise on key elements of Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ approach to Responsible Investment.

A core part of the role is advising on the evolution of the product- and conduct-based exclusion criteria applicable to the Responsible Fund range, which factors in ethical considerations and has approximately $4.2 bln in AuM (as at February 2026). Candidates are expected to have direct experience in Responsible Investment from an asset owner, manager or consulting background. A good understanding of the consideration of social issues in engagement and company screening would be an advantage.

RIAC meets once per quarter but RIAC members may be consulted by Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ Responsible Investment team on their respective areas of expertise on an ad hoc basis between meetings.

This would be a 2-year contract with the possibility of renewal involving approximately 12 days of work per annum. The fee for this role is available on request.

Responsibilities

  • To review and advise on key elements of Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ approach to Responsible Investment, encompassing key entity- or product-level Responsible Investment policies, principles and strategy.
  • Provide market intelligence on developments in Responsible Investment, particularly in relation to the Dutch market.
  • Propose agenda items and raise issues for discussion in the RIAC meetings.
  • Provide occasional educational sessions to Responsible Investment/Research/Investment teams on specific Responsible Investment issues or themes.

RIAC may also be asked to support the business by promoting Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ Responsible Investment activities in various forums, e.g., external publications on Responsible Investment issues or events involving clients and/or the media.

Requirements

Essential

  • Direct experience in Responsible Investment, gained for instance through work at an asset owner or manager, or investment consultant.
  • Capacity to join RIAC meetings once per quarter (expectation to join in-person; online option available if necessary), and to contribute to Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ work between meetings.

Preferred

  • Good knowledge of social issues, including human rights and labour standards, and their potential investment implications.
  • Experience advising on exclusion criteria.
  • Familiarity with sustainable investment regulation, including SFDR, and its impact on asset managers’ product development and positioning.
  • Proven experience within similar advisory or Board structures.
