Medical Underwriting Assistant

Foundation Risk Partners, one of the fastest growing insurance brokerage and consulting firms in the US, is adding a Medical Underwriting Assistant to their team at Arbor Benefit Group

Job Summary:

The Medical Underwriting Assistant supports the Medical Underwriting Department by managing client reporting, processing medical documentation, and assisting with underwriting reviews for Stop Loss Insurance. This role ensures timely and accurate data entry, identifies high-dollar claims, and maintains compliance with company policies. Additional responsibilities include supporting compliance functions such as licensing and carrier appointments.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage intake and entry of client reports into the Excess Loss System (ELS).
  • Monitor delinquent reporting and follow up with clients.
  • Pre-populate underwriting review forms with relevant medical and eligibility data.
  • Identify high-dollar catastrophic claims for underwriting review.
  • Maintain a library of vendor-provided reports and create alert grids for auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards and data privacy protocols.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in reimbursement processing, data entry, or similar roles within the insurance or healthcare industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Typing skills of 45-55 words per minute.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.
  • Training will be provided in HIPAA, cybersecurity, and data privacy standards
  • Strong commitment to protecting sensitive client information.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage multiple priorities.
