Job Responsibilities:
Assess medical conditions, treatments, and associated costs using appropriate medical risk assessment techniques to make accurate, fair, and consistent underwriting and claims decisions.
Carry out thorough investigations into claims and referrals to determine the existence of pre‑existing conditions or medical non‑disclosure, recording clear and robust decision‑making rationale in line with referral and escalation standards.
Proactively request and follow up on additional medical information from members, healthcare providers, intermediaries, and partners to ensure informed decisions and prevent avoidable no‑sales wherever possible.
Work collaboratively with internal business areas, including Sales, to balance medical risk, customer needs, and commercial considerations while ensuring Treating Customers Fairly principles are upheld.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Bupa Global products, underwriting policies, and regulatory requirements, acting as an expert point of reference for underwriting and medical risk queries.
Ensure accurate record‑keeping, meet service level and quality targets, support team development, and contribute data‑driven initiatives that improve service delivery, loss ratios, and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
• University degree in a medicinal field is preferred
• Minimum of 2 years in relevant experience in Underwriting.

Proven ability to meet and exceed productivity and quality targets within a high‑performing team.
Strong customer focus, balancing customer needs with business objectives and responding promptly and collaboratively to stakeholders.
Excellent communication and influencing skills, focused on achieving positive outcomes; proficiency in a second language is an advantage.
Experience in the global health or life insurance market.
Solid medical knowledge gained through training, professional experience, or a medical background.
Proven experience in medical claims, underwriting, or risk assessment within healthcare or protection insurance.
