Under the general supervision of the Hematology Laboratory Manager, independently performs a variety of clinical assays and the associated supporting work for use in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Perform start-up, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures on the instruments and laboratory equipment. Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures as required. Report results via computer. Responsibilities include Hematology and Coagulation. May specialize in Flow Cytometry and Point of Care Testing. Special assignments may include training new employees and teaching Medical Technology students. Coverage includes rotating weekends and holidays.Job Description:

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Baccalaureate degree with a concentration in science
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Not required but certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Board of Registry or by American Medical Technologists (AMT) for Medical Laboratory personnel preferred. Once certified, promoted to Medical Lab Scientist 2.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Analytic ability to perform moderately complex tests, interpret findings, perform calculations, calibrate & troubleshoot instruments used.
Ability to identify and evaluate clinical testing problems and to effect corrective action procedures and modifications.
Manual dexterity and acuity necessary to prepare specimens, screen specimens, prepare solutions, and operate instrumentation and a computer.
Ability to concentrate for long periods of time, utilize good judgment, work accurately under pressure and handle stress to met deadlines.
Interpersonal verbal and written English language skills sufficient to exchange information with physicians and other colleagues.
Work requires the ability to perform venipuncture techniques.
Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
Experience: Preferred but not required.
Pay Range:
$36.00 - $48.45The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
