Medical & Scientific Communications Strategy & Innovation Lead

The Global Medical & Scientific Communications (MSC) team is part of the Global Medical Evidence Development (MED) group within the Global Chief Medical Office (CMO) Office. The Global MSC team is responsible for 4 capability areas including Publications, Medical Content & Channel, Medical Information and Medical Review.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Global MSC Strategy & Innovation Lead will define and drive the strategic vision for MSC globally, ensuring alignment with MED priorities and organizational objectives. This role will champion innovation, lead transformation initiatives, and embed new ways of working across MSC to optimize medical communication strategies, enhance operational efficiency, and accelerate delivery of scientific content through advanced digital solutions.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • In partnership with the Head of MSC, develop and implement the global MSC strategy, ensuring alignment with MED and broader organizational goals.
  • Anticipate industry trends and evolving digital technologies to future-proof MSC operations.

Strategy Themes

  • Defining Content Strategy: Identify the types of content needed, optimal formats, and the most effective channels for delivery based on the changing needs of HCPs and Pfizer also considering new technology systems and channels becoming available across medical for data dissemination.
  • Partner with Global MCC leaders to define a vision and roadmap covering our Medical communications evolution over the coming years.
  • Organizational Evolution: Outline how our structure, capabilities, and ways of working must adapt to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Innovation & Transformation

  • Driving Innovation: Lead targeted experiments to assess impact, followed by the development of scalable models, operational frameworks, and governance structures to deliver sustainable change.
  • Coordinate the many AI-driven content solutions and digital channel optimization programs across the group.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance scalability, speed, and impact of medical communications.
  • Serve as an incubator for innovation, ensuring MSC remains at the forefront of medical communications in an AI-enabled future.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and innovative approaches to medical communications.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Global Medical Teams, Global Medical Channel Excellence, Field Medical Excellence, and Medical Analytics to ensure integrated strategies and measurable outcomes.
  • Act as a key liaison between global, regional, and country MSC teams to harmonize processes and share best practices.

Governance & Performance

  • Set clear, measurable objectives each semester to accelerate progress toward a sustainable, high-impact, and quality-driven MSC organization.
  • Establish KPIs and governance frameworks to monitor strategic initiatives and ensure compliance with global standards.

Talent Development & Leadership

  • Inspire and mentor MSC colleagues globally, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • Support succession planning and capability building across the MSC organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific/healthcare degree required (MD, PharmD, PhD, MS, etc.)
  • For BA/BS minimum 12+ years’ experience in the healthcare/pharmaceutical sector
  • For MBA/MS minimum 10+ years’ experience in the healthcare/pharmaceutical sector
  • For PharmD/PhD minimum 7+ years’ experience in the healthcare/pharmaceutical sector
  • For MD minimum 5+ years’ experience in the healthcare/pharmaceutical sector

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Language requirements

  • Strong written and oral skills in English
  • Fluent written and oral skills in local language one of designated country/ies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in assigned country/ies or geography/ies
  • Digital channel/content experience preferred.

Work Location Assignment:  This is a hybrid role requiring you to live within commuting distance and work on-site an average of 2.5 days per week or more as needed.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $204,700.00 to $341,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
