Job Description

Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Korea

Strategic Context – Why This Role Matters Now

OFG Launch & PCP Coverage Expansion: With the OFG launch, Lilly Korea is strategically expanding MSL coverage beyond traditional specialist SEs to include Primary Care Physicians (PCPs), requiring a new engagement approach and broader territory reach.

Hybrid MSL Model: Lilly is adopting a digitally-enabled hybrid MSL model that combines traditional face-to-face engagement with scalable digital touchpoints to maximize coverage and responsiveness.

Standing Request & Priority Data Disclosure: Leveraging the Standing Request mechanism to enable rapid, proactive dissemination of priority data to SEs/CEs, ensuring timely access to critical clinical evidence at the point of need.

Purpose

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based medical professional who serves as a scientific bridge between Lilly and the external medical community. MSLs engage with Scientific Experts (SEs), Clinical Experts (CEs), and – increasingly – Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) to facilitate two-way scientific exchange, gather actionable insights, and support evidence-based medicine in their assigned therapeutic area.

In line with Lilly’s Hybrid MSL strategy, this role integrates traditional face-to-face scientific engagement with digital channels and tools to expand reach, accelerate information delivery, and enhance the customer experience across a broader stakeholder base in Korea.

Key Responsibilities

2. Digital & Hybrid Customer Engagement

As part of Lilly’s digitalization initiative, MSLs will operate under a Hybrid MSL Model that leverages both in-person and digital engagement to maximize scientific impact and customer coverage.

  • Standing Request & Priority Data Disclosure: Proactively manage Standing Requests from SEs and PCPs to enable rapid disclosure of priority clinical data through approved digital channels.

  • Digital-First Engagement: Utilize approved digital platforms to deliver scientific content, conduct follow-ups, and maintain ongoing scientific dialogue with customers.

  • Omnichannel Coordination: Integrate digital touchpoints with face-to-face interactions to create a seamless, personalized customer journey across all engagement channels.

  • Track and analyze digital engagement metrics to optimize outreach strategy and demonstrate impact.

3. Expanded PCP Coverage (Post-OFG Launch)

Following the OFG launch, the MSL will play a critical role in extending Lilly’s medical affairs reach to Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) who are increasingly involved in cardiometabolic patient management.

  • PCP Engagement Strategy: Develop and execute a targeted engagement plan for PCPs, adapting scientific communication to their clinical context and information needs.

  • Education & Awareness: Support medical education initiatives for PCPs on cardiometabolic disease management, new treatment paradigms, and emerging evidence post-OFG launch.

  • Take personal accountability for territory performance metrics and results.

6. Insights & Strategic Communication

  • Synthesize and communicate actionable customer and clinical insights to internal Lilly medical and cross-functional teams.
