Territory: Focus on Japan with rare travel to South Korea, up to 50-70% travel

Purpose of Role

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Medical Research Liaison (MRL) to join our Medical Affairs team in Japan. In this role, you will focus on engaging with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals to share non-promotional scientific and medical information related to disease states and pipeline products. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly specialized therapeutic area, contributing to advancements in Myasthenia Gravis.

Key Accountabilities

Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Engagement

  • Identify and develop strong, peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and influential experts in neurology, neuro-muscular disorders, and related fields.
  • Provide scientific and medical information to address KOLs’ technical questions about the molecule/drug.
  • Represent the company at relevant scientific congresses, meetings, and events to foster engagement with the medical community.

Scientific Expertise

  • Stay current with the latest scientific research and clinical data related to Myasthenia Gravis therapeutic area.
  • Communicate complex scientific and clinical information in a clear, concise, and engaging manner to healthcare professionals.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and Commercial, to ensure aligned communication of scientific and medical information.
  • Gather and report insights from KOLs and healthcare professionals to help refine the company’s medical and clinical strategies.
  • Respond to scientific inquiries from internal colleagues and external stakeholders.

Compliance

  • Operate in strict adherence to all laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Complete mandatory training within assigned timelines and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.


Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • MSL Background: Strong experience in a traditional MSL role, with a focus on KOL engagement. Prior experience in clinical operations is not required.
  • Therapeutic Expertise: Ideally, experience in neuro-muscular or neurology therapeutic areas. However, strong MSL candidates with no neurology experience will also be considered.
  • Education: Advanced degree preferred (PhD, PharmD, or MD) or MSc in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Language Proficiency: Business fluency in both Japanese and English is required.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present scientific information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Networking Skills: Confidence to interact with senior experts on a peer-to-peer level.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel within Japan up to 50-70% of the time.
