Medical Representative
Job Description / Capsule
- This role is responsible for ethically and effectively influencing customer prescribing behaviour by communicating approved product indications, efficacy and safety information, and patient value messages.
- The Medical Representative will achieve sales targets, develop the assigned territory, build trusted customer relationships, and maximise sales volume and market share for designated respiratory products, in full compliance with AstraZeneca SOPs, local regulations and company values.
Typical Accountabilities
- Engage primary care and relevant healthcare professionals in scientific, on-label discussions about approved indications, efficacy and safety profiles to support appropriate prescribing decisions.
- Partner with the Sales Manager to develop and implement a territory strategy and business plan that meets or exceeds sales, coverage and call-execution objectives.
- Drive territory sales performance through robust account planning, customer segmentation, prioritisation and follow-up.
- Ensure accurate sales forecasting and effective management of assigned budgets in line with therapeutic area and territory expectations.
- Develop and maintain strong knowledge of the Bahrain respiratory market, including account dynamics, customer needs, formulary/access status, competitors and patient pathways.
- Build and sustain professional relationships with HCPs, pharmacists and key external experts while maintaining the highest standards of compliance.
- Comply with all regulations and company policies related to interactions with healthcare professionals, samples, promotional materials and reporting.
- Continuously strengthen medical knowledge, selling skills, presentation capability and promotional excellence across the assigned disease area and products.
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or an equivalent healthcare-related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Strong understanding of the commercial pharmaceutical marketplace and customer engagement principles.
- Proven account planning, territory management and project-management skills.
- Strong selling, negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent planning, organisation and time-management skills.
- Confident, impactful presentation skills.
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
- Previous experience in the Bahrain market.
Desirable
- Previous experience in the respiratory therapy area is preferred.
- Experience across both public and private sectors is preferred.
- Portfolio-selling experience.
- Strong KEE mapping mindset and ability to identify account-level opportunities.
