Job Description Summary:
The Medical Records Clerk performs the clerical functions associated with clinical records utilization. They work closely with the clinicians on completion of the medical record by monitoring/reviewing the chart for accuracy & compliance per program rules and regulations. The Medical Records Clerk demonstrates a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. A Medical Records Clerk provides services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of medical office experience or medical record experience.
Responsibilities:
- Scanning various medical and financial information into the EMR.
- Audit charts for deficiencies.
- Appropriate documentation of routing paper medical records.
- Follow appropriate procedure for closing episodes of care.
- Follow HIPAA standards in securing PHI.
- Assist with the orderly retrieval and review of patient charts for internal/external auditing.

Physical Requirements:
- TB test upon hire
- Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds
- Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, photocopier, and other office equipment as needed
