Medical Manager - Rare Diseases (Meta +)

The Medical Manager (MM) Meta +, will provide scientific and medical leadership in establishing an in depth understanding of the medical landscape in relation to NF1 and Metabolic diseases, developing and implementing long-term strategy, building enduring MM practices and infrastructure in line with overall RDU strategy. The MM - Meta + will provide strategic insights to RDU activities in the therapeutic area and will actively act within the country to ensure achievement of local objectives and to further the AZ Global Medical Affairs mission to maximize patient outcomes by setting and continuously advancing the evidence-based medical standard of care. The MM combines strong business acumen and clinical expertise to build and sustain the medical area as a strong pillar in the RDU.

Responsibilities:

● Develop and implement a local Medical Affairs Plan and strategy;

● Ensure a close working relationship with all functions in country, including commercial operations; marketing, patient support, diagnosis, patient advocacy, access, gov affairs, innovation and business developmente teams.

● Provide medical input direction to the development of impactful scientific and medical education;

● Review and approve promotional materials to ensure information is accurate, relevant to the Country environment, and ensure medical accuracy;

● Initiate, execute and monitoring high impact medical education activities;

● Development, implement national key medical events such as symposia or standalone non-promotional meetings or support promotional events in close collaboration with key stakeholders;

● Spend time in the field to provide appropriate and timely medical support to MSLs and HCP;

● Develops external relationships with relevant medical groups and associations;

● Support PSP to ensure accuracy and quality of educational material to patients and to Dx to guarantee the appropriate tools to diagnose the related rare diseases;

● Collaborate with Patient Organization Area to the best implementation of educational activities;

● Support the medical information function to ensure timely response to medical information inquiries and collation of requests;

● Identify and implement appropriate high-impact medical local research projects, generating local evidence that address local data gaps;

● Collaborating with clinical operations to support the performance of clinical study feasibility and support effective study implementation and ongoing management of trials, including disease registries;

● Attend appropriate national and international meetings and congresses to gather intelligence and for personal education.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in medicine preferably related discipline Endocrinology or equivalent

● Desirable experience in metabolic disease or related therapeutic areas

● Ability to critically review current relevant literature, providing insights to the therapeutic area team;

● Strong presentation skills;

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both local language and in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Rare Diseases knowledge/experience is a definite plus;

● MD Ph.D./doctoral thes is a definite plus.
