Medical Excellence Lead (12-month Secondment)

Australia – New South Wales Full time

We have an exciting development opportunity for a Medical Excellence Lead Secondment for 10-12 months starting from May 2026.

As Medical Excellence Lead you will sit on the Medical Leadership Team, partner across TAs and enabling functions, and accelerate capability uplift, data‑and‑digital ways of working, and enterprise collaboration.

This role is designed to broaden your strategic lens, sharpen your change leadership and influencing skills (leading without authority), and give you hands-on experience rolling out global programs, building people-leader capability, and supporting field medical excellence—including MSL onboarding and coaching.

You’ll gain visibility across Medical, Compliance, Access Programs, and Commercial Excellence, and make a tangible impact on team engagement and performance while preparing for your next leadership step.

The role would suit an experienced Medical Manager /Senior Medical Manager (or equivalent) with prior field‑medical experience (e.g., former MSL), a varied background across multiple brands/TAs, and a strong track record in stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and change enablement. It particularly suits individuals aiming for broader leadership paths (e.g., TA Lead, AMD) who want to deepen their enterprise mindset and data/digital fluency and are ready to drive outcomes through influence rather than line authority.

This role is part of the Medical Leadership Team (MLT) and enables excellence across field and office-based medical teams.

What you'll do

  • Lead the rollout and adoption of Medical Excellence programs and enterprise priorities, with a focus on data and digital/omnichannel ways of working.
  • Design and deliver practical capability programs for Medical Affairs, including leadership and coaching refreshers for people leaders.
  • Guide change adoption (e.g., CLM implementation), aligning stakeholders and communicating clear benefits to teams and the business.
  • Partner with cross-functional colleagues (e.g., Commercial Excellence) to integrate data and insights into day-to-day planning and decisions.
  • Support onboarding and development for field medical teams (MSLs) and coach teams through complex cross-functional interactions.

Essential for the role

  • Experience in field medical (e.g., MSL) and subsequent Medical Affairs roles (Medical Manager/Senior Medical Manager), ideally across multiple therapy areas.
  • Ability to influence and lead change without direct authority; strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven capability in designing and delivering workshops or capability programs; clear, confident communication and facilitation.
  • Comfort with data-informed decision making and enabling digital/omnichannel tools (e.g., CLM); Sydney-based and available for a 10–12 month secondment starting early–mid May.

Desirable for the role

  • Experience outside Medical Affairs (e.g., Sales) or exposure to Commercial/Commercial Excellence.
  • Coaching skills and experience supporting leaders through challenging conversations.
  • Hands-on experience with CLM/omnichannel enablement or integrated evidence planning/data gaps processes.
  • Prior people leadership experience.
