The University of Chicago Section of Emergency Medicine has a distinguished 30+ year history of leadership in clinical care, education, and research. Home to one of the nation’s oldest Emergency Medicine residency programs and several innovative fellowship programs, the Section is nationally recognized for its contributions to prehospital and EMS systems, resuscitation research, and the training of academic leaders in emergency medicine.


Job Summary

The Medical Education Manager will manage a team of education coordinators who are responsible for the operations of accredited and non-accredited residency and fellowship training programs within the Section of Emergency Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Manages accreditation, duty schedules, evaluation, recruitment, Match process, and orientation. Ensures compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Manages requirements of the training program, including accreditation, duty schedules, evaluation process, resident/fellowship recruitment, match process, orientation and employees relations.
  • Reports and ensures compliance with procedures regarding licensing, moonlighting, annual contracts, and initial and re-credentialing of trainees.
  • Manages employees by establishing annual performance goals, allocating resources, assessing annual performance, and determining individual merit, incentive and/or promotional increases.
  • Manages day-to-day operations of accredited and non-accredited residency and fellowship training programs and ensures compliance with organizations such as the American Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and Residency Review Committees (RRC).
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree.


Experience:

  • Previous experience within an academic medical center environment.
  • Previous experience within medical education.
  • Some quality improvement practices experience.
