Job Description Summary

As the Cardiology Medical Director, you will oversee the strategic direction of GE HealthCare's Americas Medical Affairs cardiology related activities, including society partnerships, advisory boards, coordination with Global Medical team and contribution to the nuclear cardiology and imaging portfolio. You will partner with the Cardiology Medical Directors, Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), Medical Advisors, and other personnel to serve as medical experts and points of contact for cross-functional stakeholders in the Americas region and ensure execution of development of strategy and tactical plans. You will explore and develop new opportunities for collaboration, in addition to managing existing partnerships.

You will work closely with your Medical Affairs colleagues, cross-functional colleagues, and external key opinion leaders (KOLs) to gain an understanding of the scientific landscape, glean clinical insights, and communicate information to key stakeholders.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • As Medical Director, lead development and implementation of the overall medical strategy and associated activities for GEHC’s cardiology products throughout launch and their product lifecycles, primarily diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals utilized in cardiac PET imaging
  • Serve as a leader in aggregating scientific, clinical, and technical customer-focused insights and strategic perspectives related to PDx imaging products and initiatives for the Americas region
  • Drive scientific exchange related to GEHC’s products in the clinical community by forming networks between KOLs to generate clinical evidence
  • Identify external clinical opinions, perceptions and trends that influence GE HealthCare’s product and innovation strategies, and where warranted, develop appropriate mitigating strategies in partnership with applicable GEHC functions
  • Provide medical leadership to the cross-functional brand and product teams, including medical review for advertisement & promotional review (APR), and medical leadership for a global integrated evidence generation plan (IEGP)
  • Align with medical affairs colleagues on cross-functional team representation with the goal of developing and implementing integrated clinical and commercial strategies for GEHC’s products
  • Engage key scientific societies and establish strong relationships that enhance our corporate image, as well as increase understanding of GEHC’s cardiology products
  • Based on robust product priorities and research strategies, establish, and drive a scientific agenda, by engaging researchers through GEHC’s activities and partnerships, including where appropriate, conducting studies that lead to publications in support of GEHC’s product objectives
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to ensure GEHC is sufficiently engaging external KOLs, academics, research partners, societies, and other organizations as we create strategies for product development, innovation, evidence generation and research
  • Coordinate and manage advisory boards to gather clinical insights as well as round tables to enable the sharing of clinical knowledge with and between external stakeholders
  • Lead review and provide medical input on promotional and other materials in accordance with appropriate regulations
  • Represent GEHC at regional and national scientific conferences
  • Must live in the United States and be willing to travel extensively (up to 50% of the time), based on needs of the business
  • As part of global team, occasional weekend or extended work hours may be required

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Graduate degree from an accredited university or college and minimum of seven years of related experience
  • Possess strong research and operational understanding of healthcare trends as it relates to GEHC’s imaging products
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to bring out the best in others on a cross-functional team. Must be able to lead through influence
  • Knowledge of applicable compliance standards, laws and regulations governing research practices
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic and confident team player with attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills with innate desire to build lasting relationships across functional groups with individuals and institutions
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, solution and action oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize conflicting projects and demand
  • Demonstrated ability to think innovatively, be flexible as priorities change, comfortably operate in a fast-paced environment and manage uncertainty
  • Ability to indirectly manage and influence across functional areas to align and determine priorities and resources
  • Awareness of US healthcare systems and clinical practices related to patient care

Desired Characteristics

  • A doctorate degree (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, etc.) and licensed within their respective specialty if applicable
  • 7 or more years pharma/biotech industry experience OR is a recognized expert in the field
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience as a Medical Director in the Pharma, Biotech or Diagnostic industry
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in the Pharmaceutical/Healthcare industry experience in any of the following: cardiology, radiology, nuclear medicine
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in nuclear cardiology
  • Preference will be given to candidates with track record of significant prior experience in medical affairs with progressively increasing scope, responsibility, and management proficiency

Location: Preference to be located in a major US metro area with easy airport access

We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening. For U.S. based positions only, the pay range for this position is $164,000.00-$246,000.00 Annual. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
