Medical Billing Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to become a part of the Colorado Physician Partners team powered by Alpine Physician Partners! This position performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that places emphasis on quality of care and customer service. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions.

Responsibilities:

Patient Assistance

  • Explain Billing Statements: Assist patients in understanding their bills, payment options, and insurance coverage.

  • Payment Processing: Accept payments, set up payment plans, and process credit card transactions or checks.

  • Verify Patient Details: Ensure that patient information (e.g., contact, insurance, billing addresses) is accurate.

Phone Support

  • Answer Inquiries: Respond to patient calls related to billing, insurance, payment, and general inquiries.

  • Schedule Appointments: If required, assist with scheduling patient appointments or redirecting calls to the appropriate department.

  • Provide Customer Service: Address patient concerns, complaints, or issues with a friendly and professional demeanor.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in medical billing and coding

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with patient population and staff while demonstrating a high degree of diplomacy and tact.

  • Beginner to intermediate computing and phone skills.

  • Demonstrates flexibility in regard to job duties and assignments.

  • Willingness to cross train within other departments within your scope of duties.

  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment.

  • Culturally sensitive and demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with ethnically diverse populations.

  • Working knowledge of “Universal Precautions,” always demonstrates professionalism.

  • Possess a thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure according to the general standards set forth by HIPAA.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish and/or other languages strongly preferred.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Certification preferred

Salary Range:

$19.71-$26.28 hourly
