MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program OR three (3) years’ experience as a medical assistant.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience in performing EKGs.
2. Six (6) months of physician office experience.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Obtains initial assessment with patient and prepares patient exam. Takes vital signs.
2. Assist physicians with procedures and treatments
3. Obtains guarantor information from patients and prepares patient charges regarding lab tests. Obtains authorizations and referrals as appropriate.
3. Prepares patient folders.
4. Performs EKG's.
5. Performs sterile and isolation techniques; follows all OSHA standards.
6. Maintains other work area in a clean and orderly condition to prevent spread of infection or disease to patients, visitors and personnel.
7. Provides care and education appropriate to the age of the patients served.
8. Assess information relative to patient's status and interprets this information to identify the age specific needs of each patient.
9. Transports lab specimens, information and supplies between the satellite office and WMC.
10. Enters physician's orders which includes but is not limited to patient charging, referral arrangements and scheduling outpatient testing.
11. Issues patient statements manually or via electronic billing system. Collects patient co-pays and establishes a daily cash balance sheet.

1. Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment weighing 40+lbs.
2. Must be able position and/or lift patients, and stand or walk 8 hours per day.
