  • Requires excellence in customer services and phone skills. 
  • Requires ability to read, write and speak English fluently. 
  • Requires ability to operate electronic medical record adeptiy within given training period. 
  • Must meet physical requirements listed below. 
  • Must take responsibility for own on—going educational requirements as position requires. 
  • Requires knowledge of medical billing and coding systems, submitting statements to appropriate payer for services rendered. 
  • Requires knowledge of healthcare field and medical specialty. 
  • Must have extensive working knowledge of common medical names and terms. 

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: 

  • Ensures all related reports. labs and information is filed is available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment. 
  • Updates and files all patient medical records. 
  • Schedules physician and other clinician appointments according to location. patient need. and clinician availability. 
  • Calls patients to issue reminders about upcoming visits 
  • Answers telephones and takes telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician or pharmacy calls. 
  • Triages and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants. APRN. other clinical staff members. 
  • Maintains all logs and required checks (Le. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications. expired medicatlons/vaccinations.) 
  • Codes and completes filing out insurance forms. 
  • Assists with completion of forms needed by patient, insurances. and other care providers. 
  • Handles correspondence. billing. and bookkeeping. Keeps financial records and performs other bookkeeping duties. such as handling credit and collections and mailing monthly statements to patients. 

CLINICAL DUTIES: 

  • Arranges for hospital admissions. laboratory services and other diagnostic tests. 
  • Interviews patients and records medical histories. obtains history and physicals prior to first clinical visit before the physician or nurse arrives for visit.
  • Documents the patient's current symptoms. medical history. risk factors. and other relevant concerns that will help the primary physician deliver an accurate diagnosis and proceed with a comprehensive treatment plan. 
  • Authorizes prescription re-fills as directed by a physician or APRN. 
  • Contacts medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or admission.
