Certificate of training from a nationally recognized Medical Assistant Program and National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant
Experience
Successful completion of accredited MA training program through Fortis, Community College Baltimore County, Allegany College of MD, Anne Arundel Community College, CCBC, Harford Community College, PG Community College, or Towson University.
Must hold current and valid National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA, AAMA or RRMA)
Skills
Knowledge and comprehension of medical terminology in Ob-Gyn and GYN specialty offices
Skill in using techniques for phlebotomy, specimen collection, medication administration and taking vital signs.
Skill in written and oral communication
Ability to distinguish normal from abnormal diagnostic results
Ability to pass a medication calculation test with an 85% or better prior to hire
Licensures, Certifications
Certificate of training from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant
BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs direct patient care in an office such as:
Rooming patients
Review and document patient information in medical record
Record vital signs
Prepares patient for exam
Set up exam rooms for procedures. Sets up required instruments and inspects equipment to ensure properly functioning.
Assists providers with office procedures
Handles and processes specimens collected (Labels specimens, generates requisitions based on Insurance requirements, confirms diagnosis and procedure codes with provider)
Routine diagnostic tests
Administers medications, records medication lot number, expiration date and NDC numbers in EPIC in adherence with standard protocol
Completes medical leave and disability forms for patients
Generates work related letters
Obtains authorization for medications prescribed utilizing Cover my Meds and communicates denials or clinical requirements to providers
Set up peer to peer review for physicians to discuss medication denials with pharmacy
- Maintains examination schedule. Evaluates patients for schedule of appropriate preventive or other care such as immunizations, eye exams, PAP smears, pain management, or wound care.
- Responds to patient questions. Assists patient with dressing and undressing, getting off and on examination table. Chaperones patient as needed during examinations.
- Reviews diagnostic results and reports abnormal results to physician.
- Complete in basket tasks assigned by provider(s)
- Review Fax in box messages and route to providers accordingly. Respond/ complete non urgent tasks
- Cleans room as needed between patient exams; maintains cleanliness and order of exam rooms. Stocks and orders supplies; sterilizes medical equipment, and performs medical office clerical duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk and stand for up to eighty percent (80%) of work time.
Working Conditions
Exposure to disinfectant and detergent solutions. Exposure to human specimens
Conditions of Employment
Ability to float to various practices, as needed.
Ability to manage high volume of patients efficiently (30 patients per session)
Ability to manage one to two providers of high volume efficiently (60 patients per session)

Pay Range
$17.64 - $27.48Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
