The Position
What should you do
1. Integrated Strategy & Planning
- Architect an Integrated Strategy: Develop a unified departmental strategy ensuring Medical evidence generation plans are designed from day one to support Policy / Access value propositions and payer requirements.
- Lead Integrated Planning: Lead and unify the team's annual planning process, deeply integrating Medical's situational analyses and strategies with the 5-year Market Policy / Access framework to ensure resource synergy.
2. Stakeholder Engagement & Execution
- Lead Dual-Track Engagement:
- Scientific Leadership: Guide the Medical team in establishing peer-to-peer partnerships with HCPs to increase disease and product awareness.
- Access Execution: Lead the Access team to achieve broad and timely reimbursement with sustainable prices for Roche’s innovations.
- Strategic Guidance & Lifecycle Management:
- Act as a strategic partner to key stakeholders throughout the entire product lifecycle.
- Provide top-level guidance for the team's reimbursement negotiation strategies, ensuring all medical evidence is skillfully utilized to achieve access goals.
3. Evidence Application & Value Creation
- Evidence Application & Value Insight: Direct the Medical team's focus toward leveraging global clinical and economic data to provide robust value propositions and innovative access solutions. The goal is to maximize the utility of existing evidence rather than primarily generating new data locally.
- Co-create Access Solutions: Oversee the development of the Access team's innovative solutions, pricing strategies, and payer contracts, ensuring these solutions fully leverage the scientific and economic value articulated by the Medical team through their data application and insights
4. Team Leadership & Operations
- Co-create Integrated Operations: Collaborate to oversee and manage the overall annual planning, strategic execution, and budgets for both Medical and Access functions. This requires joint effort to ensure full alignment and resource integration across both teams.
- Provide Organizational Education: Act as the central expert group to provide ongoing education and training to the wider organization on the evolving healthcare environment, clinical evidence, and access strategies. This includes co-developing educational materials with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- VACC Leadership: Act as an agile VACC leader (Visionary, Architect, Coach, Catalyst) to build a transparent, value-driven culture that enables personal growth within the integrated team. This includes fostering a culture of co-creation and seamless cross-functional teamwork.
Additional task, duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for acting in line with legal, regulatory and company standards and codes of practice (such as Roche Code of Conduct and any other Roche directives and guidelines)
- Work in a cross functional setup applying agile working methodology
Who you are
Education and experience
- Master’s degree or higher in science or related fields
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the life sciences industry (diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology).
- Hands-on experience in medical affairs, clinical development, scientific communication, or product strategy.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience or deep understanding of Medical Affairs functions, clinical development, or scientific communication.
- Proven track record of leading teams and creating a transparent, value-driven work culture.
Required skills and qualifications
- Strategic Acumen: Ability to develop and implement strategies and resource plans.
- Influence & Collaboration: Highly skilled in working in a cross-functional matrix environment and ability to influence without authority.
- Agile Leadership: Ability to adopt and lead with agile methodologies and ways of working.
- Innovation Mindset: Proven track record of driving innovation, smart risk-taking, and not being afraid to fail/learn fast.
- Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills; highly fluent in both English and Mandarin.
- Good knowledge of Compliance requirements and clear understanding of high standards of Integrity
- Scientific and commercial understanding of diagnostic products, knowledge of product development and trials, experience in managing, interpreting and presenting wide ranges of scientific data to different audiences
- Experience in development and implementation of clinical research/trials
- Strong sense of responsibility and achieving results, strong customer focus/orientation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and with cross-functional teams
- Ability to learn new concepts and acquire new knowledge quickly
- Detail-oriented and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability and willingness to travel
Preferred
- Expertise in oncology, HCC, cardiovascular or metabolic diseases.
- Proven track record in customer-facing, field-based medical and access roles.
- Strong scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
- Thorough knowledge of the diagnostic product development lifecycle, including regulatory processes.
