Medical Affairs Academy, Skills Development Director

ROLE SUMMARY

The Medical Affairs Academy Skills Development Director will drive and develop highly effective Medical Affairs colleagues globally and within region. As part of a global team, the Medical Affairs Academy Skills Development Director will work with regional leadership to collaboratively optimize Medical Affairs colleague’s skills and capabilities enabling them to build enduring, peer-to-peer relationships with healthcare professionals and institutions, creating constructive, cross-functional partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to generate customer insights and leverage business strategies.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To be responsible for the advancement of colleague skillset within Medical Affairs organization.

  • To collaborate with the regional leadership team and propose and align recommendations for endorsement.

  • To act as a single point of contact between the Global Medical Affairs Academy Skills team and the regional leadership team.

  • To provide capability support for Medical Affairs Managers Field Medical External Engagement coaching skills

  • To actively promote Medical Affairs colleague’s continuous improvement through fostering a self-learning culture and capability-enhancement.

  • To lead, plan, project manage and evolve a Medical Affairs onboarding and advanced learning programs for training colleagues, working collaboratively with SMEs.

  • Understand regional needs and harmonize global and local resources to fill identified gaps.

  • Adopt and advocate for adult learning principles, and self-led learning.

  • Innovate - Bring, design, deliver innovative learning solutions to support colleague development.

  • To identify and disseminate Medical Affairs best practices and initiatives throughout region, globally, and across Categories.

  • Contribute to the Medical Affairs Academy Skills Development team overall goals and objectives, working collaboratively with other members of the Medical Skills and Competencies Development team as appropriate and providing input and feedback by representing regional needs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • Degree in a sciences/healthcare field required, doctoral level degree preferred

  • Bachelors with 8+ years; MBA/MS with 7+ years; PharmD/PHD with 5+ years

  • Medical Affairs experience required

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required

  • Relevant experience in organizational effectiveness, optimization, and capabilities development

  • Evidence of experience in defining or refining field-based roles required, with minimum years of experience according to degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in organizational effectiveness

  • Understanding of the rapidly changing external environment and medical customer needs in REGION

  • Previous external customer-facing role experience preferred

  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance issues relating to the medical function in REGION

  • Experience in creating and presenting training programs a plus

  • Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal skills

  • Excellent virtual and face-to-face facilitation skills

  • Ability to clearly and easily communicate scientific information and concepts which may be complex in nature

  • Ability to influence without reporting line authority in a matrixed environment

  • Excellent coaching skills, previous experience in a similar role a plus

  • Familiarity with internal/external SOPs/guidelines/regulations governing Pfizer medical customer interactions and relationships.

  • Between 25% - 40% travel (including international)

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $176,600.00 to $282,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
