Medical Advisor, Hepatology

The Medical Advisor role on our Canada Specialty Care and Innovation Medical Team, allows you to contribute to a dynamic medical team, working with cutting-edge Hepatology assets across the spectrum of Hepatology. As a medical and scientific expert, you will help advance patient care in Hepatology through innovation and collaboration.

This is an office-based role requiring 2-3 days at our Mississauga or Montreal head office. Candidates must reside in a location accessible to the office. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Medical Plan Execution: Responsible for delivery of the Canada Medical Value proposition, through utilisation & implementation of the Medical Planning & Medical Impact frameworks.  Support the development and implementation of strategies for assigned Hepatology assets, including evidence generation, data dissemination, advisory boards, conference engagement, and external scientific exchange.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with local, regional, and global cross-functional teams. Be a proactive and solutions-oriented business partner to the internal head-office and Field teams.
  • Scientific Expertise: Act as subject-matter expert on emerging scientific and therapeutic trends in assigned areas, including competitive treatment landscapes.
  • Material Development, Review & Approval: Conduct medical review and approval and/or certification of materials to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Medical Insights and Planning: Deliver the field medical and scientific engagement plan through high quality & tailored external engagement across the healthcare system & through strategic medical partnerships to develop insight and understanding of the value of our medicines now and in the future.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Support: Provide medical expertise for CA regulatory and health technology processes. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and ethical standards.
  • National-level External Engagement: Build strategic relationships with partner organizations, medical societies and external experts through scientific discussions, tailored presentations, and partnerships. Respond to medical enquiries with factual and balanced information.
  • Medical Digital & Technology: Support creation & delivery of the omnichannel strategy for aligned disease areas & assets.
  • Clinical Research Support: Support clinical research strategies aligned with CA market needs. Support evidence generation activities, investigator relationships, and local protocol development.

Basic Qualifications

  • An advanced post-graduate scientific degree (MD, Ph.D., PharmD)
    • Successful candidates must reside within Toronto or Montreal and be committed to attendance at either head office 2-3 times per week.
  • Previous experience in a Medical Scientific Liaison or Medical Advisor role.
  • Experience in Hepatology or Infectious Disease within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or research sectors.
  • Experience of the Canadian healthcare environment, including hospital-based/specialty clinical practice, the Canadian regulatory system, health technology assessment, and market access.
  • Experience in strategic execution involving masterful organization and management of projects with independence.
  • Aptitude for evaluating and communicating complex scientific information and translating it into actionable insights for strategic decisions.
  • Experience with clear and concise communication, negotiation, and collaboration within a matrix team environment of diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Therapy area experience in Chronic Hepatitis B, Hepatology, or Infectious Disease is preferred.
  • Experience driving innovation in medical affairs through new approaches to healthcare partnerships and evidence-based decision making
  • Experience with digital tools and platforms, including designing and executing medical digital and technology plans to enhance patient and healthcare engagement
