What you’ll be doing:
To maintain a comprehensive and topical understanding of the prevailing TPDPS Assessment Guide, along with the Clinical Governance guidance notes, pro-actively seeking clarity as needed.
Meet face to face both physically and/or virtually or review available evidence from applicants to the TPS scheme to determine the permanence of an applicant’s condition and their percentage disablement.
To quality check a specified volume of submitted reports per week against the audit criteria determined by Clinical Governance and the Victims’ Payment Board (VPB), based on their agreed interpretation of the TPDPS Assessment Guide.
To provide positive, constructive and impartial advice to clinical assessors, auditors and clinical support in writing and face-to-face enabling them to continually develop in their role.
Work to ensure the quality and productivity targets, established by Capita TPDPS to meet its contractual Service Level Agreements are met.
Maintain and evidence personal Continuous Professional Development (CPD), Online Mandatory Training (OMT) and ensure continuing professional registration.
Develop own clinical knowledge of the impacts of health conditions/disabilities remaining clinically calibrated to the standards set by the Chief Medical Advisor Officer/Clinical Governance function.
What we’re looking for:
Essential:
A minimum of 2 years’ post-registration experience as a medical doctor
Fully registered without sanction or conditions of practice with the GMC
A demonstratable background in a Mental Health/Psychiatric speciality
Ability to work at pace, set boundaries, manage conversations and keep to timescales
Ability to relate to people from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, races, religions and cultures
Report writing skills with an ability to deal with a high percentage of work using a laptop and IT systems
Experience of clinical effectiveness, quality assurance standards, feedback, peer review, audit methodology and, or impartial review
Strong analytical skills – familiar with MS Office, particularly Excel/Word and PowerPoint Desirable:
To have a working understanding of the physiological, pathological, social and cultural issues which underpin TPDPS
To have demonstrable previous experience of acting as a coach and/or subject matter expert
To be able to write succinct notes which are suitable for all stakeholders
To have demonstrable IT skills as the process involves using bespoke IT systems
Desirable:
Experience working in the Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) scheme and/or the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS) and/or the War Pension scheme.
Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete government baseline personnel security standard vetting and a Counter Terrorist Check (CTC). This is the recognised standard for the pre-employment screening of individuals with access to information related to the TPDPS.

Your working hours:
The contracted hours for this role is 37.5 per week (full time). A minimum of 30 hours per week would be considered however you must be able to commit to 6 weeks full-time training.
We’ll consider your work-life balance, as well as the needs of the business, to try and create a working pattern that benefits both of us. Working patterns can be between the hours of 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday and include an hour for lunch, unpaid. For example, 8am – 4:30pm or 9am – 5:30pm.
