The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our Canada Gas Operations team in Greenstone, ON.
Reporting to the Hearst Area Manager, the Mechanical Technician will operate and maintain natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment in a manner that meets operational needs, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and communication skills.
The regular work schedule for this position will be:
Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; Friday off
Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday
What you’ll do
Perform mechanical maintenance and inspections on natural gas generators, aero derivative/industrial gas turbines and centrifugal compressors
Perform bore scope inspections on auxiliary power units (APU’s), pumps, air compressors, and other associated equipment used in natural gas compression
Participate in mechanical inspections, overhauls, and preventative maintenance in the Wildrose Region
Complete job quality assurance documents (JQA’s) and work authorization/job safety analysis (JSA’s) along with other electronic documentation
Troubleshoot equipment problems utilizing technical reference manuals and documents
Supervise and coordinate third party contractors
Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other personnel
Demonstrate safety leadership
Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low to medium complexity projects with effective work management practices such as time management, work sequencing, and contractor oversight
Collaborate and support our business partners as required
Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of third year of trades program, or, two years of technical training from a recognized institution (i.e., Millwright, Heavy-Duty Mechanic, Machinist)
2 years experience troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating mechanical equipment of transmission facilities (such as compressors, auxiliary engines, cooling equipment, valves, pumps, fittings, scrubbers, filters, electric motors, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience interpreting technical reference documents and reading drawings
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting combustion engines, centrifugal gas compressors and standby generators
Computerized maintenance management system and SAP experience
This position requires candidates to:
Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
Provide emergency support as required
Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training will be required, which will involve overnight stays away from home base (estimated up 30% of work schedule)
