As a Special Tooling Technician, you will be responsible for prototype assembly, inspection and rework/repair of non-deliverable hardware, special tooling and special test equipment.

What You Will Do

  • Prototype/production support will require precision part inspection/measurement equipment, as well as other standard machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Work is done in a shop environment with safety being key.  
  • Additional responsibilities will include updating and tracking shop job statuses using the Jira system, performing Special Tooling repair and maintenance as well as supporting test fixture assembly and troubleshooting as required.

The Mechanical Technician 2 is an onsite role in McKinney, TX.

What You Will Learn

  • Ability to learn to use manual machines, such as a vertical mill and lathe, under supervision of an experienced machinist
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly and tooling engineering drawings
  • Ability to execute work while following all Raytheon shop safety procedures
  • Ability to learn our tooling re-work and repair processes

Qualifications You Must Have

  • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree(or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in metal fabrication processes and utilization of hand tools
  • Demonstrated experience in operating simple hand tools and inspection equipment to meet precision machining and measurement requirements
  • Physical ability to lift heavy tooling, work with hands positioned above head, and ability to use ladders and step stools

  • Adapt quickly to changing situations and urgent requests to ensure business needs are met
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative work ethic to work with others in a team environment
  • Ability to receive Secret clearance
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed to support the factory
  • Consistently display effective communication and strong professional behavior

The salary range for this role is 41,400 USD - 72,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
