POSITION SUMMARY:
This role will work towards the elimination of equipment failures by providing scheduled and non-scheduled repairs that are critical to achieving Plant OEE and Equipment Availability goals. The incumbent will perform preventive maintenance on all plant equipment, troubleshoot and repair all plant equipment, install all new plant equipment, maintain safe and efficient work condition of equipment, perform minor electrical work, work with outside contractors on equipment and help keep parts rooms neat and orderly.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
Maintenance
Perform inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on all plant operating equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks on the mechanical systems including inspection and lubrication.
Must be proficient in the use of precision measuring tools (micrometers, dial indicators, etc.)
Must be able to install and align all types of new equipment.
Perform shaft alignments within 5/1000-inch tolerance.
Must display competency in performing basic electrical work safely.
Read hydraulic prints and source replacement parts.
Must possess mobile/diesel knowledge proficiency.
Must possess mechanical knowledge proficiency (bearing installation).
Must be knowledgeable about power transmission and pneumatic systems.
Good fabrication skills and able to weld all alloys, and air arc (certification preferred).
Must be able to troubleshoot, service and repair all plant operating equipment.
Must be able to disassemble and rebuild all types of crushing, screening, and conveying equipment.
Understand the installation and maintenance of all types of bearings.
Perform shaft alignments within 1/4-inch tolerance.
Able to use equipment manuals, parts lists or blueprints to properly install, repair, or order parts.
Process knowledge of the CMMS System to ensure that work orders and checklists are completed accurately.
Must be able to troubleshoot hydraulic systems.
Routine replacement of bearings, idlers, dust collector bags, gearboxes, and drive belts will be required.
Initiate work orders as required.
Operate extended forklift, manlift, or maintenance machinery to perform plant maintenance.
Must be able to complete belt tensioning alignment (Shaft/Belt).
Initiate work orders as required
Able to use equipment manuals, parts lists or blueprints to properly install, repair, or order parts.
Inventory
Ensure all inventory parts are correctly charged from store.
Ensure all parts are available before starting job.
Safety
Perform all assigned work adhering to company and governmental safety rules and regulations.
Attend scheduled safety meetings.
Enforce all applicable safety policies.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Promote safety among co-workers.
Participate in Behavior Based Safety program
Comply with company, state, and governmental health and safety regulations always.
Complete and document Workplace Inspections in a timely manner.
Ensure maintenance tools are kept in good condition, repaired or replaced when necessary.
Training
Upgrade skills by participating in vendor and company-designated training in addition to certification programs.
Train on any new equipment installations.
(SQF) Safe Quality Feed
Ensure a SQF workplace and follow regulatory compliance with Federal FDA – Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 507).
Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs.
Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture.
Following completion of SQF training, demonstrate understanding of expected safety, SQF performance and Food Safety Culture.
Complete periodic SQF training(s).
Each site location will ensure training is conducted for new employees and continued for existing employees.
Employees will actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site.
Perform other duties as assigned.
ATTRIBUTES:
Must have welding experience.
Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills.
Must be able perform basic mathematical computations.
Ability to detect potential problems through observation in the field.
Must be able to work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes.
Must have a telephone and be open to callouts.
Good decision-making skills regarding safety
Must possess basic computer skills.
Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, blueprints, mechanical drawings, safety rules, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
Must perform all tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously with limited guidance.
Ambitious to grow within Lhoist.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a mineral environment.
The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Mineral Particles.
The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting.
Ability to consistently lift over 75 pounds as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
PREFFERED EDUCATION: Technical training or AA degree in technical related field is desired. Completion of an apprenticeship program, technical program, or equivalent experience in industrial background.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Completion of an apprenticeship program, technical program, or equivalent experience in industrial background.
PREFFERED EXPERIENCE: Five 5+ years of relevant mechanical experience including welding, equipment alignments, equipment troubleshooting, reading of blueprints and mechanical drawings. Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and mobile equipment.
