The Naval & Oceanic Systems business unit headquartered in Annapolis, MD is seeking a Mechanical Engineer willing to work in a collaborative environment and that is interested in expanding their horizons in the Undersea Systems domain.

Essential Functions:

This position includes concept development, problem solving, technical planning, design development, analysis and integration & testing of undersea hardware.

The candidate must be able to collaborate and prioritize tasking in a dynamic team environment, comprehend and analyze complex problems, and develop engineering solutions which meet project requirements. The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas: hardware design, design for manufacturing practices, development of engineering processes, procedures and deliverable documentation, and an understanding of engineering principles in supporting small to medium production quantities.

Experience in the undersea domain is preferred, including Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs), Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), Acoustic Communications, Sonar Systems, Undersea Systems, etc. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. 

Basic Qualifications for Mechanical Engineer:

  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Ocean Engineering or equivalent STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of experience or MS degree with 0 years of experience.
  • Ability to work on-site at Annapolis, MD campus.
  • US citizen with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI and pass a polygraph.
  • Proficiency in using common engineering design, production, analysis, and office tools.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment where multiple projects are being developed and deployed simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter
  • Proficiency in GD&T and design for manufacturing
  • Familiarity with undersea engineering topics, including unmanned underwater vehicles, remotely operated vehicles, sonar systems, environmental corrosion, pressure vessels, etc.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
