A Day in Your Life at MKS: (Summary & Objectives)

As a Mechanical Engineer within the Direct Pressure Group, you will support the design, development, and sustaining of advanced vacuum measurement products used primarily in the semiconductor market. This role focuses on full product ownership, including new product introduction, design improvements, and cross-functional coordination to ensure successful product release and ongoing performance in the field.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, and quality to support product development and sustaining activities.

You Will Make an Impact By: (Responsibilities)

  • Support the design, development, and release of capacitance manometer products across the full product lifecycle, from concept through production and sustaining
  • Create and review detailed mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications; ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements
  • Drive engineering changes (ECOs/ECRs), configuration management, and documentation updates with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Partner cross-functionally with Electrical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, and Product Marketing teams to ensure successful product development and ongoing support
  • Work closely with internal production teams and external vendors/suppliers to resolve technical issues, improve designs, and support manufacturing readiness
  • Lead or support root cause investigations, failure analysis, and corrective actions for field and production issues
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of design standards, best practices, and engineering processes
  • Support qualification, validation, and verification activities for new and existing products
  • Analyze product performance data and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong organization and communication across teams 

Skills You Bring: (Required Skills)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (advanced degree a plus)
  • 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing or product development environment (level to be determined based on experience)
  • Experience with precision mechanical design, including creation of drawings, tolerancing, and documentation
  • Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience supporting product development, release, or sustaining engineering activities in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to drive product execution and resolve issues
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in documentation, configuration management, and engineering change processes (ECO/ECR)
  • Experience working with external vendors or contract manufacturers to support design, fabrication, and issue resolution
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and transitioning products into production
  • Data analysis skills using tools such as Excel, Matlab, or Python
  • Experience with vacuum systems, precision instrumentation, or similar technologies is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Pay Range: $81,675.00 - $136,125.00 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS.
