Job Description

Rockwell Automation is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Shared Services team. You will focus primarily on supporting and enhancing our existing industrial control products throughout their lifecycle. These products include Programmable Logic Controllers, I/O Products, Communication, and HMI devices. Responsibilities include driving cost reduction initiatives, addressing quality and reliability issues, supporting manufacturing, and implementing design updates to ensure long term product sustainability. In some cases, you may also contribute to select New Product Development activities when business needs arise.

This role is highly cross-functional and requires close collaboration with global engineering teams, project management, manufacturing, suppliers, quality, and product management. It provides opportunities to deepen technical expertise while delivering critical value to the lifecycle of Rockwell Automation's hardware portfolio.

You will report to the ME Team Lead and have a hybrid schedule working in Katowice, Poland.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support manufacturing and quality teams with mechanical expertise to resolve production and customer issues
  • Support cost-reduction and resiliency projects that enable robust product lifecycles
  • Create and modify parts, assemblies, and drawings for product designs in PTC Creo.
  • Collaborate with vendors to make manufacturable, cost-effective designs.
  • Perform verification of changes by testing products, typically in the areas of shock and vibration, ingress protection, and / or thermal. Validates product performance against mechanical requirements and standards.
  • Participate in the Engineering Change process to release drawing and BOM changes into SAP and / or Windchill
  • Work as the mechanical representative on a cross-functional engineering team
  • Contribute to project planning and scheduling for mechanical elements.
  • Identify, define and establish process improvement opportunities to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of all work and projects assigned.
  • Work within the Agile framework and use Jira

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Two years of mechanical design experience.
  • Experience with electronics package design, particularly industrial devices.
  • Experience with designing parts for manufacturing processes, such as injection molding, casting, metal stamping, machining.
  • Very good command of English.
  • Two years' experience using PTC Creo or equivalent CAD software package.
  • Some experience with Enterprise Product Data. Management (EPDM) systems - SAP or Windchill.
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma tools.
  • Experience with Jira and other Agile tools.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent knowledge.
