Position Summary

The Mechanical Designer will support new orders by focusing on custom components. They will be responsible for creating detailed designs, drawings, and manufacturing plans. They will work closely with Production Engineering Designer Team to determine requirements for custom components. They will also support the After-Market Sales and Production teams with requests for old components that need to be updated to current manufacturing processes. This entry-level position is ideal for someone eager to learn and grow within a custom engineering environment.

Essential Functions

• Support the Production Engineering Designer Team in the development of manufacturing detail drawing packages and CAD models for production orders
• Develop manufacturing drawings and order of operations for custom components
• Support aftermarket sales by updating & creating drawing packages for historic components
• Support manufacturing by developing simple jigs and fixtures as necessary
• Ensure that designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and compliant with relevant industry standards.
• Maintain design documentation and update drawings as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficient in Parametric (3D) CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
• Understanding of Mechanical Design and Design for Manufacturing principles.
• Understanding of drafting principles with the ability to read, interpret, and create manufacturing drawing.
• Good knowledge of common metal working and manufacturing practices such as machining, sheet-metal fabrication, welding, etc.
• Good understanding of common GD&T symbols.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Education

Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field

Experience

1-3 years of experience in a technical role within a mechanical design or manufacturing/metal working environment; design experience would be an asset.

Physical Environment and Environmental Factors

Primarily office-based with some site visits to manufacturing or client locations

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $63,400.00 - $95,200.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
