Job Description
A Mechanical Craftsperson is an individual who performs troubleshooting, inspection, installation and repair of variety of primary mechanical equipment and systems across the site.
Mechanical Craftsperson’s will work on shift and days within the Operational Engineering department. The role entails operation and maintenance of a number of utility systems and production equipment on site, such as;
Break down maintenance.
Planned / preventative / predictive maintenance.
Utilities maintenance.
Clinical and Commercial manufacturing modules maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Performing preventive maintenance tasks such as inspecting, replacing components on schedule.
Responding to breakdowns of equipment, diagnosing and repairing, while ensuring any changes are documented under change control.
Overhauling, cleaning and/or replacement of defective parts.
Removing and/or installing major pieces of process and/or utility equipment.
Providing engineering support to production.
Operation, monitoring and maintaining various utility systems and building management systems.
Developing and/or delivering training to craftsperson and apprentices.
Participating in multi-functional and inter-site teams as required.
In the role of craftsperson, there are a variety of other, ad hoc responsibilities that may be assigned.
Understanding that all tasks require a work order and depending on complexity of task, a permit may also be required. Completion of work is documented under work order notifications with appropriate detail once the work is complete.
Understanding that if during maintenance something outside of standard should be reported for further investigation.

Quality & Environmental, health and Safety (EHS) Responsibilities
Read and understand relevant Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Policies and GSOPs applicable to role.
Attend training and complete assessments as required.
Perform duties in a compliant manner and behave in accordance with site SOP’s, Quality Systems, EHS standards and guidelines and relevant legal requirements. e.g. Safe Systems of Work, Permit to Work.
Report all accidents, incidents and any EHS issues using the appropriate process in a timely manner. Engage with safety investigations as required to identify root causes and appropriate corrective actions.
Knowledge / Education / Experience Required
Minimum Level of Education - A time-served craftsperson who has completed a state-recognised apprenticeship
Job related experience including a current, working knowledge of:
Site and industry standards regarding Good Engineering Practice
Engineering Operations policies, systems and procedures
The organisational structure of other departments and their maintenance needs.
The location and maintenance needs of most major plant items and utility systems
Other skills - at least two year's experience of maintaining primary equipment and systems.
