Mechanic B

Primary Duties

  • Complies with all plant administrative rules.
  • Complies with all applicable operating procedures.
  • Obeys the plant safety rules.
  • Works under the direction of a Mechanic “A”.  
  • Performs routine and as-needed maintenance and repair on all powered industrial equipment, as assigned.
  • Maintains all treating cylinders, piping systems, hydraulics, pumps, rail tracks, electrical systems, drip tracks and trams. , as assigned.
  • Performs maintenance on hoists, cranes and chain drops, as assigned. 
  • Performs welding, as assigned. 
  • Performs minor repairs on the boilers, as assigned. 
  • Performs required plumbing repair and modifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs all required SH&E responsibilities.

SH&E Responsibilities

  • Complies with all SH&E regulations and corporate and plant SH&E policies and procedures.
  • Promptly and properly reports all incidents, injuries, damages, spills and/or releases.
  • Promptly reports and, if possible, corrects all unsafe acts and/or conditions.
  • Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) required by the applicable PPE hazard assessments (including restricted use pesticide PPE requirements).
  • Completes all SH&E inspections assigned by management.
  • Performs required housekeeping activities.
  • Ensures that used oil drained from machinery is properly disposed or recycled.
  • Make repairs on bulk storage tanks.
  • Repair wastewater treatment plant equipment. 
  • Works safely with and around hazardous materials and hazardous waste including flammable or combustible liquids and compressed gases.  

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Pass preemployment medical screening.
  • Certified as a powered industrial equipment operator.
  • Certified Welder.
  • Trained as authorized personnel and/or affected personnel for lockout/tagout.
  • Demonstrates acceptable retention level for the required training elements.
  • Trained to handle hazardous waste.
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. 
  • Able to read layout drawings.
