The Position

Mechanic A

Job Summary

Nature of Position: To maintain and repair process, production and mining equipment by performing routine corrective, reactive and preventative maintenance activities. 

In This Role You Will: 

Maintain and follow safety, health and environmental requirements, including maintenance of safety standards on all production equipment, mobile equipment and shop areas 

• Perform maintenance repairs on mechanical equipment and facilities 

• Perform installation of new equipment and relocation of existing equipment 

• Perform Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance on mechanical equipment

• Troubleshooting of mechanical equipment 

• Read and interpret blueprints, layout plans, vendor installation and operation manuals, and other schematic drawings to determine work procedures

• Dismantles machines using hand tools and power tools

• Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks 

• Assembles and installs equipment, such as pumps, conveyors, crushers, etc. using cranes, hand tools and power tools 

• Welding via Mig or SMAW including fabrication and fitting

• Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers and plumb bobs

• Sketch drawings and take measurements 

• Assemble machines using bolts, welds, rivets or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures using hand tools and power tools. 

• Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment and supplies.

• Performs equipment lubrication, cleaning, and repair of tools, machines, and equipment. 

• Utilize maintenance management software to process work orders. 

• Track usage of maintenance parts

• Maintain a clean work area. 

• Maintain your assigned work truck

• Keep your assigned work truck clean

• Perform other duties as required


 

Minimum Requirements: 

Three (3) years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment

• Ability to read a tape measure and other measuring devices

• Ability to lift 50 pounds routinely 

• Willing and able to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for extended periods (lifting, walking, climbing, pushing, twisting, stooping) 

• Willing and able to work in a demanding industrial environment to include but not limited to hot, humid, dusty, cold and noisy 

• Willing and able to wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, steel toe boots, etc.) 

• Willing and able to communicate job related information as required through associated documentation

• Willing and able to work any shift, overtime, weekends and holidays when required 

• Ability to apply shop mathematics to solve problems

• Ability to plan work and utilize proper tools 

• Ability to make decisions based on measurable criteria

• Ability to perform a variety of duties, which may change often

• Ability to operate machinery

• Ability to work at heights

• Ability to follow departmental procedures, work instructions and abide by all safety rules

• Must have a valid driver’s license

• Must be able to work with limited supervision; self-starter

• Communication skills including verbal, non-verbal, written, listening skills, understanding verbal instructions, and interpersonal relations skills are necessary 

Machines and Equipment Involved: Light truck, hand and power tools, forklift, manlift, Hydralift, Broderson crane, basic computer, calculator

Working Conditions: Job includes both inside and outside duties in varying weather conditions 

Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent (GED). Ability to read, write, and perform basic math at a level associated with completion of high school or equivalent.
