EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 

  • We are seeking a visionary leader passionate about transforming the management of people at risk of developing, or living with, Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). 

  • As MCO Head of Autoimmune T1D, you will lead the dual launch of Early Detection and Tzield, a first-in-class disease-modifying therapy, helping establish a new standard of care by enabling earlier identification and intervention in T1D. 

  • You will be responsible for developing and executing the end-to-end commercial strategy for the T1D franchise across the MCO, with full P&L accountability, supporting growth from €1.6M at launch to ~€50M by 2035. 

  • The role leads the commercial organisation (marketing and sales) and oversees the definition and execution of the launch strategy, working closely with the Launch Lead and partnering cross-functionally with Medical, Market Access and Corporate Affairs to activate screening ecosystems and drive Tzield adoption. 

  • Reporting to the MCO General Manager and serving as a member of the MCO/Country Leadership Team, this role is central to delivering Sanofi’s ambition to transform T1D management through early detection and disease-modifying therapy. 
     

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES 

The MCO Head of Autoimmune T1D holds end-to-end accountability for the development, launch and long-term growth of the T1D franchise across the MCO, with full responsibility for delivering the dual launch of Early Detection and Tzield. 

 

Dual Launch Leadership 

  • Lead the end-to-end dual launch of Early Detection and Tzield, coordinating cross-functional teams across Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs. 

  • Establish the screening and referral ecosystem required to identify individuals at risk of T1D and enable timely intervention with Tzield. 

Market Shaping & Ecosystem Development 

  • Drive disease awareness and screening adoption among healthcare professionals, policy makers, and the broader T1D community. 

  • Build strong partnerships with Centres of Excellence, KOLs, scientific societies, PAGs, and government stakeholders to accelerate screening and treatment pathways. 

  • Monitoring and staying ahead of market trends and developments to drive improvements in business outcomes and customer experience 

Commercial Strategy & Launch Execution 

  • Develop and execute the local franchise strategy and Integrated Growth Plan, adapting global brand strategy to the local context. 

  • Lead pre-launch and launch readiness activities to ensure successful pricing, reimbursement, and market access. 

Franchise Performance & Business Planning 

  • Hold full P&L responsibility for the T1D franchise 

  • Lead business case development, forecasting, and financial planning in collaboration with global franchise teams. 

  • Tracking key performance indicators and OKRs including marketing and sales performance, identification of at-risk patients, and customer/patient experience along the care pathway.  

Team Leadership 

  • Build and lead a high-performing organisation to support launch and long-term franchise growth. 

  • Coach and develop talent while fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture. 

Customer Engagement & Innovation 

  • Deliver best-in-class stakeholder engagement, leveraging omnichannel approaches, digital tools and AI to enhance customer experience and impact. 

  • Continuously refine strategy based on market insights and ecosystem evolution. 

Compliance 

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in full alignment with Sanofi ethics, compliance, and corporate policies. 

 

MAIN REQUIREMENTS   

The MCO Head of Autoimmune T1D requires strong cross-functional leadership across global and MCO levels, with the ability to align diverse functions, Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, PV, Supply, Trade, GTMC and Corporate Affairs,  around a unified strategy and ensure disciplined execution of the dual launch of Early Detection and Tzield. 

 

Technical Skills 

  • Deep understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, market dynamics, and competitive landscape 

  • Proven cross-functional leadership and influence, with the ability to navigate complex matrix organisations 

  • Strong commercial and brand management expertise, including P&L responsibility 

  • Understanding of Sales and Marketing operating models and Go-to-Market transformation 

  • Expertise in digital engagement and medico-marketing innovation 

  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including scenario planning and data-driven decision making 

Leadership & Behavioural Skills 

  • Glocal mindset: ability to translate global strategy into effective local execution

CRITICAL EXPERIENCES REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE  

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical marketing, commercial leadership, or franchise management, with proven P&L responsibility 

  • Strong track record in brand strategy, launch planning, and innovative marketing campaigns, ideally in specialty care or complex therapeutic areas 

  • Demonstrated experience working in matrix environments 

  • Solid understanding of Market Access, healthcare systems, and financial planning, with the ability to integrate these into commercial strategy 

  • Experience contributing to Global Brand planning processes and successfully translating global strategy into effective local execution 

  • Experience with digital engagement, omnichannel customer strategies, and evolving Go-to-Market models 

  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills, including partnerships with external stakeholders (e.g., healthcare institutions, advocacy groups, or ecosystem partners)
