The MBA Summer Internship in Strategic Delivery & Optimization offers a high-impact opportunity for a current MBA candidate to contribute to business-critical initiatives within Roche’s Product Development Quality (PDQ) organization. PDQ is Roche’s global center of excellence for quality, providing leadership across Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Pharmacovigilance (GVP), Medical Device Regulations, and related domains to ensure patient safety, data integrity, and regulatory confidence.
Roche is committed to delivering absolute confidence in the integrity of its data, fostering agility in its processes, and maintaining unparalleled transparency with regulators, patients, and society. This internship is designed for a future business leader who is eager to apply MBA capabilities to complex, real-world quality challenges that directly influence Roche’s portfolio and patients worldwide.
The role is a paid, full-time internship of three months’ duration, based in Welwyn Garden City or Basel, and provides exposure to the strategic operations of a world-leading biotechnology company.
As an MBA Summer Intern within Product Development Quality, you will be empowered to take ownership of strategic initiatives rather than acting in a purely supporting capacity. You will work on projects that optimize strategic delivery, drive efficiency, and enhance productivity across the global PDQ landscape.
You may be involved in the following areas:
Strategic Delivery & Project Leadership
Lead a large-scale project within an international, multicultural matrix environment, applying systems thinking and strategic collaboration to streamline complex processes and accelerate quality outcomes across diverse business functions.
Data-Driven Business Insights

Global Quality Process & Systems Optimization
Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Roche’s Future Quality Management System (QMS), a critical initiative aimed at identifying, controlling, and enhancing core business processes to ensure patient safety and data integrity.
Organizational Capability & Portfolio Management
Support strategic portfolio management, advance knowledge management practices, and help build organizational quality capabilities, delivering sustainable productivity improvements across PDQ and the wider Roche organization.
Successfully navigating these responsibilities will require strong analytical skills, strategic insight, and leadership potential.
Opportunity to work on high-visibility, business-critical projects with direct portfolio impact
Exposure to the strategic quality operations of a global biotechnology leader
Ownership of meaningful deliverables rather than observational or support-only work
Collaboration with leading experts across quality, product development, and global functions
Accelerated professional and personal development, including structured learning and networking opportunities
Who is this internship suitable for?
This internship is designed for a highly motivated MBA candidate with prior consulting experience who is passionate about making a meaningful impact within the healthcare industry. You are comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and are energized by complex, cross-functional challenges.
Essential Skills & Experience
Currently enrolled in a top-tier MBA program
At least 3 years of previous experience in Consulting
Strategic and critical thinker with a proactive, risk-based mindset
Demonstrated experience leading complex projects, facilitating decision-making, and fostering collaboration
Exceptional problem-solving skills, including curiosity, creativity, and adaptability
Strong digital and data literacy with the ability to translate analytics into business impact
Innovative, data-driven mindset focused on value creation and execution velocity
Proven stakeholder engagement, influencing, and negotiation skills
