Maternal Infant Health Program Coordinator

Job Summary

The System Maternal Infant Health Program Coordinator will function to fulfill all aspects of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) singularly designated MIHP Coordinator requirement. The MIHP Coordinator will closely collaborate with MDHHS MIHP administrators as well as the Corewell Health Maternal Infant Health program leaders to ensure fidelity of the MIHP model of care, compliance with MDHHS and Medicaid programmatic requirements and quality of service delivery.

Essential Functions

  • Understands the complex faucets of the certification requirements, policies and protocols of MIHP service delivery and ensures their implementation.
  • Validates Medicaid Health Plan (MHP) Contracts are in place prior to claims processing for eligible MIHP billable services.
  • Works closely with both contracting and billing to ensure alignment on claims processing and reimbursement for services billed.
  • Collaborates with MHPs in requesting extension of services as needed.
  • Actively participates in the interviewing, selection, hiring and onboarding process of MIHP personnel inclusive of MIHP Supervisors, MIHP care managers, MIHP community health workers and MIHP Support Staff such as administrative support coordinators, patient service representatives and billers.
  • Oversees beneficiary referral process to ensure compliance and identify issues with low program uptake.
  • Trains and oversees region/catchment area MIHP Supervisors on state required Medicaid Policy and MDHHS MIHP Operations to ensure frontline team members of MIHP Care Managers, Community Health Workers and Support Staff are knowledgeable of these requirements and are in active compliance with them.
  • Collaborates with region/catchment area MIHP Supervisors/Managers on monitoring workloads and assessing when additional or fewer FTEs are needed.
  • Provides expert understanding of the use of Corewell Health’s EMR in operationalizing the daily workflows of the MIHP care team.
  • Facilitates case/care consultation across disciplines.
  • Provides reflective supervision for MIHP Care Managers and MIHP Community Health Workers.
  • Ensures entry of MIHP data into the MIHP database.
  • Communicates with partners such as MHPs, medical care providers, and community agencies as necessary to ensure continuity of care and to help identify gaps in care.
  • Manages and/or oversees the transfer of MIHP beneficiaries as needed.
  • Downloads and compiles MIHP CHAMPS reports to provide a comprehensive view of the demographic and risk profiles of MIHP served beneficiaries.
  • Prepares for, and participates in, MIHP Certification Reviews and Office of Inspector General audits.
  • Conducts quality assurance activities such as chart audits. Plans and implements quality improvement strategies based on audit findings.
  • Provides direct billable services via telehealth or in person when deemed appropriate.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent business, healthcare administration, nursing, social work or related field
  • 3 years of relevant experience Community-based programs, a Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP), maternal and infant health programs
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire Or
  • LIC-Master Social Worker (MSW-Master) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire rAnd
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association System Maternal Infant Health Program Coordinator 90 Days Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross System Maternal Infant Health Program Coordinator 90 Days
  • LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan System Maternal Infant Health Program Coordinator Upon Hire

Preferred

  • Master's Degree business, healthcare administration, nursing, social work or related field
  • 5 years of relevant experience Proven leadership in managing high-impact programs and achieving goals in complex matrixed organizational structures
  • 5 years of relevant experience Experience working in a complex healthcare environment
