Materials Superintendent- 2nd shift

Position Overview

You will serve as a key leader within the Materials organization, partnering with the Materials Manager to ensure people, processes, and priorities are aligned to support customer service, material flow, and inventory accuracy at the Polaris site. You will provide day to day supervision and leadership across salaried and hourly teams within a multi shift operation, including oversight of third party receiving and warehouse activities. You will work closely with cross functional partners to support safety, quality, productivity, and schedule attainment. This role is a compelling opportunity because you will have direct ownership over material operations that impact production performance, inventory health, and site level execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Materials Manager to deploy the workforce in support of strategic priorities related to customer service, material flow, and inventory accuracy.

  • Provide daily leadership and supervision to salaried and hourly employees, ensuring achievement of safety, quality, productivity, schedule, cost, and employee program objectives.

  • Assign and prioritize work based on production requirements and employee skill sets to meet or exceed production schedules.

  • Monitor, assess, and proactively improve workplace safety conditions, ensuring a safe work environment at all times.

  • Track and analyze key performance indicators related to safety, quality, environmental compliance, and productivity, using data to drive corrective actions.

  • Coordinate daily communication across a multiple shift operation and maintain strong collaboration with cross functional stakeholders, including manufacturing, engineering, quality, and project teams.

  • Coach and support supervisors and employees across all areas of the Materials operation, including third party receiving and warehouse functions.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, encouraging participation and implementing standardized processes across the Materials organization.

  • Plan and organize activities to support production deadlines while maintaining process consistency and standardization.

  • Prepare inventory accuracy reports, maintain records, and take corrective action to address discrepancies.

  • Assist with department budget preparation and ensure adherence to established budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. (required)

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Proven ability to generate process mapping documentation, including specifications, engineering reports, plans, and procedures.

  • Demonstrated capability in troubleshooting material processes and applying structured problem-solving methods to resolve downtime events.

  • Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

  • Background in participating in or leading material flow engineering reviews, design reviews, and packaging improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in monitoring material consumption processes to maintain optimal stock levels, reduce excess inventory, and prevent stockouts.

  • Hands on involvement in planning, mapping, and improving delivery methods.

  • Demonstrated ability to document and create Standard Work and visual management systems for multiple levels of leadership and operations.
